We recently enjoyed an unforgettable 10-night stay at Amarawati Boutique Hotel in Kathmandu, and I’m thrilled to give it a 5‑star rating for its exceptional hospitality, comfort, and location. Spacious, elegantly decorated rooms with a charming mix of traditional brick walls and modern furnishings, plus plush beds and efficient AC—perfectly restful after days of exploring . Multiple room categories (Deluxe to Executive Suites) offer options tailored for solo travelers, couples, families, and groups, all consistently comfortable and well-maintained. Just 400 m from the iconic Pashupatinath Temple and under a 5‑minute drive from Tribhuvan Airport—ideal for spiritual visits or early flights . Though nestled near ring roads, the hotel remains surprisingly peaceful—away from urban noise but close to shops, dining districts like Thamel and Durbar Marg . The team, especially Manager Kushal Shrestha and staff like Ranju and Sudarshan, consistently went above and beyond—from arranging custom trips to providing sincere, heartfelt hospitality . Reception services include 24/7 assistance, tour desk support, airport shuttle coordination, luggage handling, and card payments—convenient and efficient. Amazing comfort: Rooms were cleaned daily, beds were cozy, and AC worked flawlessly throughout. Local immersion: Waking up early to walk to Pashupatinath for darshan and returning to the rooftop for breakfast was magical. Stress-free travel: The hotel arranged several day trips (Bhaktapur, Nagarkot, Pokhara) with seamless coordination and fair pricing. Delicious meals: The in‑house restaurant never disappointed—each dish felt fresh, flavorful, and filling anytime of day. Kind, supportive team: Whether it was a late check‑in, a sudden tour need, or daily meal requests, the staff handled everything with professionalism and warmth. Final Note: If you are planning a mid-term stay in Kathmandu- Whether for Pilgrimage, Tourism or Business- Amarawati Boutique Hotel is the ideal choice. Beautiful rooms, unbeatable location, excellent facilities and heartfelt Nepalese hospitality.

Read moreI chose this hotel primarily due to its proximity to Sri Pashupati Nath Temple which is only a 8-10 min walk away. Room dimensions are small but this reflects the location in a very congested part of Kathmandu. There was a dental kit in the bathroom but the soap/shampoo out of the dispenser was naff so bring your own. Guests are also provided a complimentary bottle of water, there was a kettle and a couple of tea bags but no cups or milk but it was good enough for a 'glass' of black tea in the morning. There was a TV which I couldn't get to work. There is also a fridge in the room.
The most glaring problem with the street facing rooms is poor sound insulation. I was on the 2nd floor and could hear loud music from nearby clubs until after midnight followed by drunken merriment from the street well into the early hours of the morning. If you choose to stay here, request a room towards the back of the property, away from the street.
There were also little biting bugs in the bathroom and the odd mosquito- considering vector born fevers during monsoon months, pack some bug spray as there is no mozzie trap provided.
There is free WiFi but speeds are not great (3 Mbps) and signal was temperamental. On the other hand, there are plenty of sockets in the room including one on the ceiling!
Staff are generally friendly but occasionally slow to respond to guest requests.
Although the overall experience was decidedly average, just eyeballing adjacent properties suggests this is probably as good as it gets at this price point (30 USD) for a place so close to the temple. The fact it's a stone throw from the airport (NR 200-250 through Pathao) is...
