I stayed at this place twice - overnight en route to Pokhara, and a few days on the return journey. The location is not exactly the easiest in terms of getting around, being some distance from the main Kathmandu attractions except for the Boudhanath (it is close to this one), and the narrow potholed roads are a tight fit. However, if looking for a place that's outside the heaving backpacker hub of Thamel, this location makes sense. It's still not a quiet location, but I wonder if any location is in this part of the world. ||||I found my room roomy and clean, with all-modern plumbing. It's a gentle start to your Nepal adventure and a welcome rest afterwards. The guesthouse staff is reasonably helpful. There is a kitchen you can use but you have to walk out to the main streets (or the Boudhanath area, which is good) for food otherwise. Wifi is pretty decent and room comes with basic...
Read moreUn Dia Blanco is a quaint little guest house just a few minutes walk from the Boudhanath Stupa. ||We stayed in a room on the 3rd floor that had a queen sized bed and a set of bunk beds for the kids. We had our own private bathroom. ||The beds were decently comfortable but there was no AC so we had to leave the windows open. Sadly the stray dogs of Kathmandu bark throughout most of the night so having the window open meant it was quite noisy, making it difficult to sleep. ||The shower had hot water but it didn't get much beyond lukewarm and as you try to make it hotter you have to cut back the flow. ||In other words the shower was kind of terrible. ||The staff were super helpful though. They have us great advice about visiting the city's sights and which buses to take. They even helped by ordering a 5 am taxi pickup the day we left. ||The cost for our room worked out to $23...
Read moreThe 3 things that make this place a winner: clean, comfortable and cheap. ||The place is as clean as it gets in Nepal. The set up is basic and the decor is earthy ( the curtains are jute; how cool!) which made my stay feel serene. I go to Baudha to escape Chaosmandu, so the comfort of this place is aprropo. The staff is super nice. The price hit the spot. ||My room faced Southwest so I got plenty of sunshine to warm the cold weather. The only problem were the dogs barking at nite. But I have been in Nepal long enough to be wise to always carry a few pairs of earplugs. I stuck a pair in my ears and slept soundly.||Btw, there is a terrace with an...
