Sesamé Restaurant — Restaurant in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

Well, it's no longer a buffet (maybe just on the weekends). The restaurant is open and the food is delicious! They had a wide variety of options (Chinese, Indian, European) and all were very good. We had the Lamb Chops (delicious and tendor), Mapo Tofu (one of the best tofu in Kathmandu and very spicy - good kind of spicy), Butter Chicken (delicious, not salty and shredded, soft chicken) and Pad Thai (one of the best in the city). The service was fantastic - very attentive, but not overbearing. The ambiance is very upscale, great environment, great comfortable furniture. The only reason for a 4 star instead of 5 is the price. It is very high - I know it's inside an upscale 5-star hotel. I guess they can do it, but you can get close to the quality/taste for half the price in the city. All in all, if you want to spoil yourself with a great meal and a beautiful restaurant, this is the place. But only for special occasions. While we stayed at the Hyatt, we enjoyed both the dinner and the breakfast buffets. Service was impeccable. There is a good variety of Nepali and global cuisines available. They also offer to-order specialties that change every day -- just give your table number and your request, and it's brought to your table.

I was overjoyed to have access to a southern Indian breakfast at the buffet, complete with rasam, idli, pickles, coconut and tomato chutneys... -- and I was particularly tickled to be able to order a masala dosa. It wasn't a "potato chip" dosa, but it was nevertheless REALLY good, and the filling was delicious.

And freshly made masala tea. And the coffee preparations are excellent.

And if Indian breakfast doesn't happen to be your jam -- they've got plenty of other goodies. I sure wish I didn't have to make a 24-36 hour trip to...

Throughout my meal, the service was attentive and friendly, with the waitstaff going out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and satisfied. The ambiance, food, and service all combined to make for an unforgettable dining experience, and I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Overall, I highly recommend sesame at Hyatt Regency for anyone looking for a cozy and delicious dining experience. The food is expertly crafted and presented, the service is top-notch, and the ambiance is warm and welcoming.
