Very disappointed about how the owner‘s family was treating us. They gave us a fair deal for a double room, but when they collected the money in advance they didn’t give change back. They told us this is extra charge for water and for cleaning fee. Which is not stated in the homestay‘s policy. We asked the owner lady if we can handwash our clothings and she agreed without saying something. Then after we checked out and returned to the place, she refused to return our change. We stayed their for a week before the youngest daughter of the owner started acting strange. She threw in my face that here family is going for holidays to France and Amsterdam, and that is also a reason why they have so expensive prices for their room. She said to me that nepal is not a good place for me, as a white person, and I should leave and not return. I would think Nepal is cheap and that’s why I come here to use the poor people. She also lied into my face, telling that more guests are around and that absolut quitness is necessary. She also started locking the door from inside, so the further rooms are not reachable anymore. I thought I was family there, but they treated me like unwelcome enemy. Even though the place is okay, I would recommend not to stay with this money...
Read moreLe Rhododendron is truly special – a peaceful oasis a 5 minute walk from the noise and bustle of Thamel. Hari continues to genuinely care for his guests. He made us feel very welcome and went out of his way to ensure we had an extremely comfortable stay. The hotel was spotless, the breakfast first class and his hospitality second to none. Hari somehow manages to combine making you feel like family, yet also like honoured guests – a wonderful combination. Each day started with a delicious, freshly cooked breakfast on the sunny rooftop terrace ( including the best coffee I had in Nepal). The shower is hot, with good pressure, the bedding, linen etc, spotless and the wi-fi and electricity reliable. Hari is ready to assist with any logistical challenge and often anticipated our needs. A stay at Le Rhododendron will be one of the highlights of your trip to Nepal and worth staying in Kathmandu for an...
Read moreI was fortunate to stay here for 1 and a half years during the pandemic. I got to know the owner,Hari, and his family well during this time. We became like family. Hari genuinely cares for his guests and is happy to arrange whatever for their stay.||||The place is conveniently located next to Thamel and us safe, clean, and quiet. Great to shop at the local markets and get to know the people. It is a place to feel closer to how people live in Kathmandu without it being so touristic. Shop and visit with the locals, not as a tourist.||||Hari makes special effort that his place is kept up, recently repainting the whole building. A garden in the backyard to see what is growing. Balconies facing front and back with a great view of the surrounding hills. On a clear day on the rooftop you can see the Himalayas!||||Definitely recommend!||||Pic is from...
