If you dont want to stay in the tourist chaos of Thamel, and you appreciate old town charm among local people, well ,then Nirvana Kuti is definetly your kind of place. We stayed a week and were super happy. Why ? First of all : the location, you could not ask for better location. You have only a few steps to iconic Durbar square, Freak street just around the corner, many small local restaurants next door, locals living local life - not a tourist trap. And still a few steps from the main street, quiet with a beautiful pagoda in front of you. And your host Bobby is the nicest guy you met in a long time. You are staying in his family house that he just renovated, you have an entire floor for yourself with even kitchen facilities in case you need that. Clean spacious rooms with eveything you need for an affordable price you cant beat. Hot shower and strong wifi. He doesnt have a reception counter so better you send him a message to +9779841826006 ( whattsupp too ) about your arrival time. He speaks perfect english since he lived in Australia long time. You will be in good...
Read moreAt first, I have to cut the star down because of the liable information. When you're going there, you're expecting that you'll have a private bathroom but when you arrive, you're shocked that it's not really true. It's outside of your room so you need to go to the hall first. Otherwise Bobby has always been helpful when needed and waiting and the place for me on the exact time we talked about, because it's a private place without reception. There's also a place like a kitchen where you can take drinkable water and there's also a kettle. Bathrooms have hot water but it's limited due to weather conditions because it's on the roof heating by sun. Rooms are simple without a TV. Can be hot during the summer days and there's only a fan. WiFi was good in the room where's WiFi router located but in the room on the lower floor it was too slow and falling...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about Nirvana Kuti. I felt like we had a whole floor to ourselves. A kitchen area with a kettle and drinking water, bowls, plates, utensils, a bathroom, and a cozy room. Bobby thinks of everything. How often do you get soap, a towel, blanket, pillows, toilet paper, and hot water all in one place? I don’t think it has happened my whole time in Nepal or India. And Bobby is the perfect host always there to answer questions. And his English is perfect! I got quite sick and he checked in on me and let us keep extending our stay until I felt better. Thanks Bobby I can’t imagine staying in a better place… Everything is also right out the door, fruit, veggies, milk, chai. Coffee and muesli (from the shop downstairs). And to top it off every evening a sweet woman comes and cleans. The place...
