First review: I stayed there on a professional trip to Kathmandu in June 2023, and I needed to be close to the French Embassy, which is why I gave it 5 stars as far as the location is concerned (this criteria might differ where other travelers are concerned). The hotel is tastefully decorated, the staff is nice, the prices are correct and the Italian restaurant makes some of the best pizzas I have ever tasted, Italy included (I wasn't impressed by Roman cuisine). The reason why I am not giving 5 stars to the room is that A/C units are sometimes wrongly located, as it was in my room, which is to say blowing directly on the bed. This prevented me from using it as a consequence and ended up kind of ruining my sleep. I do recommend booking that hotel, however, since the pros largely outweigh the cons.
Second review: I went back for a couple of days in December 2023. The hotel is apparently under new management/ownership. It is still ok but several things had gone downhill, which is why I downgraded service and overall evaluations from 5 to 4 stars. The hotel maintenance in general seems less professional, the breakfast which used to be great is now a small buffet with limited choice, and the prices have gone up. The Italian restaurant is still as good though. But I'm not sure I'll go back if the prices remain that high. other hotels nearby might now offer a better quality for money ratio, like the Tibet for instance, according to some...
Read moreBetter late than never - I’m writing this much delayed review as I feel this place deserves one for the brilliant hospitality and service we received during our week long stay in December 2024. Despite being Lazimpat locals, we needed a bit of a break from family duties and decided to check into Nomad for a week before NYE for some R&R. We were absolutely blown away by the professionalism and the kindness of staff here. The room was comfortable, nice hot shower and perfectly soundproof despite its close proximity to a new hotel infamous for hosting some terribly noisy events. The FOH Abhishek went above and beyond to look after my husband when he found himself a little under the weather and till this day, my husband can’t stop raving about the absolutely delicious breakfast at Nomad which we enjoyed every morning - the best in the city! The staff left no stone unturned to cater to our every demand, no matter how trivial - from setting up a wake up service on the morning of New Year’s Day so my husband doesn’t miss his beloved breakfast to serving breakfast in bed when he was feeling that little extra lazy. Sorry I couldn’t remember everybody’s name but wanted to send this note as an appreciation to the wonderful waiting staff, Guard Dai and the kitchen manager. It honestly felt like a home away from home. Your kindness made our stay so wonderful and we will definitely return for a longer stay next time we are back in Nepal. Mr & Mrs...
Read moreLocation is good, in Lazimpat, embassy place, safe, walking distance to tourism places(you know Kathmandu is not big). The hotel is very new, clean, the interior decoration is north-European style, neat, and home feeling. Hotel price is quite reasonable. I was thinking to book another chain-store hotel as I never heard nomad before, luckily I made the correct choice. Lower price and even better room here. What surprised me is the food. I come here in lockdown period, for safety consideration, I just eat in hotel's restaurant. I seriously don't have any expectations at the beginning. They mainly provide Italian food, it's quite authentic. I get to know the owner of this hotel also owns a few restaurants: Old House, Le Sherpa, La Casita...maybe more, I am not sure. So you can expect the food quality here would be nice. One more thing I want to mention is the employees here are very friendly. I especially want to thank Eren. I met some issue here, the information in igm report the hospital provided is not clear, it might affect me to take the flight, he helps me to solve it....
