My boyfriend and I came to Pokhara initially as the start route for our trek. We happened across this hotel when we were walking along looking for something that might have views of the lake. (We couldn't afford the rooms at the top of the building which do have views as we were on a backpackers budget but we still enjoyed our stay very much) We had a large room with a a very comfy double bed and a single bed, as well as our own private bathroom with a western toilet, hot shower and decent water pressure. The rooms are cooled with ceiling fans (not air con) but that is all you need here. The owner started off at a price of $15 a night but was willing to negotiate down a little after we promised to be back when we had finished trekking. |As promised we did return after our trek and were given a better room (This one had a bathtub and a desk/dressing table area) for the same price we had paid previously. We ended up staying for a little over 2 weeks this time as we relaxed in holiday mode in pokhara. The hotels location was perfect as there is easy access to the lake just across the street, plenty of restaurants on either side of the hotel and the main strip (which is pedestrianised in the evenings) just a 2 minute walk away. The hotel locks the front doors at around 10:30pm each night but the staff were very happy to open up for us if we were ever out later than that (we always informed them before hand if we were going to be late)|They did have a slight problem with the electric cutting in and out quite frequently but that seemed to be a problem for the whole street (perhaps something to do with the many building improvements going on in the area?) ||There is no dining service offered at the hotel (but is very close to many restaurants as mentioned before) but they do offer laundry service at local rates, and can help book tours and bus tickets should you need them. ||Overall we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay and would gladly rent if we are ever in...
Read moreI stayed here for one week at the room on the very top of the building. This is 'room 502.' It's got the best view over the lake and there's a private balcony. It cost $36 per night which is expensive for Pohkora but the sunsets and sunrises were worth every penny. |The staff are exceptional here. I travelled alone here and the family who work for the owner cannot do enough for you. Every morning, I had a breakfast that I had ordered the night before brought to my room with a tray of tea at a time I wanted and it was consistently good.|The place is undergoing renovations and money is being invested to improve the rooms. My room had a comfortable bed which was a new experience in Nepal where most beds are like wooden planks but the is was comfortable. New curtains an furnishing and very clean and they offer a laundry Service at the same local rate of 100 rupees per kilo. A big bag cost me under $4.|The owner was a bit grumpy because I didn't order tours through him and was offhand when I asked if he could help me phoning my airline so I didn't bother.|The only access to the room is up the stairs. There's no lift (like everywhere else) but there is a small spiral metal staircase that has glass all around it. If your frightened of heights, it will take a bit of getting used to.|There is a big stray dog problem in Phokora as with everywhere else and some nights, they bark all night long and you can't sleep through it other nights, it's fine. |Location wise. This place is at the North end of Lakeside and everything s a few minute walk away and the bus station is a short taxi ride away. |Other than that, I'd recommend it...
Read moreWe initially stayed at a previous guesthouse in Pokhara but wasn't happy with it so we walked and walked, looking at quite a few but Tropicana was the best. The rooms in Pokhara - they are either too expensive or really cheap but too basic and uncomfortable, although it depends what you're looking for too.||||Price: We had a doubleroom for US11 per night. There are also rooms for about US15 and 17, just the difference of size and perhaps with your own balcony. The guy who showed us the rooms was happy to negotiate the prices down for us. ||||Rooms: They have many rooms. Some came with a cute balcony. The rooms, sheets and toilet were very clean, spotless and smells fine. We were given a double room where a little stairs lead upstairs and it was only that one room on that floor in a cute corner. I really liked it. I'd go back again. ||||Cleanliness: I was impressed by the cleanliness. I see the cleaning lady mopping the floor of the hallway every morning. And room can be cleaned at your request and is done well. Good quality towels are provided too.||||The staff are easy going and friendly. We stayed for 14 days.||||Location: Location is good, not too central where all the noise is and not too far off from everything. I also booked a flight ticket with them, they gave me a bit of a discount. They had hot water but it depends on the weather. There is also a big balcony on the first floor with tables and chairs if you just...
