Best Homestay in Pokhara! Great Rooms + Wonderful Views of Phewa Lake
I'm so glad I found this gem of a homestay during my time in Pokhara! I stayed in a few places before I found this one, and Little Pilgrim Lodge is my favorite placed I stayed by far. Why? Because it's the perfect combination of value, comfort, location, lake views, and company!
Starting with value & comfort: the prices are reasonable, and the value you get for them is unreal! The rooms are modern, clean, and chic with brick walls, gorgeous artwork, and roomy bathrooms (complete with hot water, TP, towels, and slippers). My bed was big and comfortable, and I appreciated the bedside table, fan, and dresser.
Onto the location & views: both wonderful! It's located in Lakeside, close to great cafés like Vegan Way and the Juicery, but far enough from the main road that it's peaceful and quiet at night. I found that pretty much everywhere I needed to go was within walking distance. And the views from the private balconies just can't be beat! I stayed on the top floor, corner unit which had magnificent views of Lake Phewa, but I looked at a few other rooms and they've all got great lake views. But don't take my word for it — do yourself a favor and book yourself a room here, so you can see the views for yourself! Perfect way to start the day: looking out over the balcony at the lake with a cup of coffee and a journal :)
I saved the best for last: the company! The couple who lives onsite and runs the lodge, Bishnu and Nisha, are such wonderful, kind, helpful, friendly people. The day I arrived, Nisha made me feel right at home, and she even carried my suitcase upstairs herself to the top floor, what an angel! And her husband Bishnu is really friendly as well and has decades of experience as a trekking guide, so he's a great resource if you're looking for help planning treks during your time in Pokhara. Both Nisha and Bishnu went the extra mile to make sure I felt at home and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, I'll be back whenever I'm...
Read moreI had the pleasure of staying here July of 2013. My friends and I were instantly greeted with smiles and shown the rooms available. It was a bit pricey for four backpackers on a budget, but over hearing this, the owner of the hotel came and assured us that he would work on a price that would be ok for us. I could not believe the huge discount given to us. Once we settled in, I took a moment to take in the view from this hotel and man, do I remember that moment. Good food and beautiful garden . Overall, a very aesthetic place. There was even a music video being shot there one of the days I stayed.||||The place is about a ten minute walk from the centre of Pokhara, but you could always hire a motorcycle for cheap. I actually enjoyed the walk since the concept of time did not really apply for me while out there. One of the nights, however, I was a bit drunk and taking this walk back to the hotel when a man on a motorcycle stopped next to me. I gazed up and it was the owner of the hotel! He told me to hop on and when he began to go the opposite way I asked him where we were going. He replied, " Your my guest and I havn't boughten you a drink yet." This man proceeded to take me to a club in Nepal, owned by his buddies, bought me more drinks than I can handle and took me home on his motorcycle while I napped on his shoulder." This is the type of service you can expect from this Hotel Green...
Read moreVishnu! What a dude! Vishnu is the owner of the property and together with his family made us feel like home. We stayed at his hotel 2 nights (after spending a couple of days at the other end of the town). They welcomed us with tea ( the masala tea is heavenly), and checked us in way earlier than we were supposed to. Vishnu arranged our 3 day Chitwan trip for a very reasonable price and only with half day notice. He saw us to the bus station to ensure that everything went like clockwork. Vishnu was also a trekking guide for almost 30 years, so he can give excellent tips and recommendations for hiking in Nepal. In general, he is a one-stop-shop. He is so well connected that he can arrange anything for you. ||||Our room was clean and spacious and the little balcony overlooks Pokhara and the lake, so you get beautiful sunsets :) ||||The area is busy, so you only need to walk 1 min to access bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants and bars. ||At nights the area can be a bit loud, but it gets quiet relatively early (around 10pm). ||||Accessing the property can be a challenge for people with strollers, accessibility issues or many bags, as you need to climb a few steps in narrow passages. ||||But overall green peace lodge gets 5/5 and Vishnu and his family get a 10/5! We would...
