The hotel was very nice, more upmarket than it appears online.|Beds are comfortable, Rooms are a nice size, and feature 1 chair, a (older) flat screen tv, plenty of sockets, and bonus uk sockets above the sideboard, bathroom, great shower, i was in room 205, jacuzzi style bath. (I didnt actually use it but its large) you get plenty of towels a hairdryer, soap, shampoo coffee machine, kettle, slippers, fridge, |safe, the room also has aircon (was a bit rattley).||housekeeping was great, and when requested, concierge was informative and helpfull. Its a converted Dutch house type affair, I would definitely reccomend it.| They offer a buffet breakfast onsite, for over 20 euro, its in my opinion pricey, just a little above this price point I would expect room service, and I think more would take them up at that option, i would have, did I mention some rooms have balconys too, no smoking, but imagine breakfast in the trees of this elegant tree lined street, | |I spent 6 great years as a maintenace man for the ritz hotel london, this hotel is definatly a gem with potential to go even harder than it allready does, such as a limited room service, it has a honesty bar you can use with snacks, there is also a fridge in the room, maybe a minibar for those munchies moments may entice more sales. ||the street is quiet, Location is exceptionally good, its close to the affluent area, but still close to reasonably priced cafes bars and restaurants, minutes from the hustle and bustle of the musems, there is also a regular and easy to use tram service 5 minutes away, allowing you to get anywhere in the city within 30 minutes. We went to zuid station from the airport, rather than the normal central, from zuid you get a tram a couple of stops and you are litrally around the corner from the hotel. |Overall a great break, I paid £510 per person for 2 people with 2 rooms and 3 nights, from easy...
Read moreMy partner and I really loved staying at the Hotel JL (or Hotel John Linnell as we called it).
The bed was nice and big, arguably too big because we basically didn’t touch all night.
The bath was also nice and big. We’ve tried sharing a bath in my tiny flat in England and have been very unsuccessful. The bath here though had plenty of space for both of us and we didn’t have to argue about who would sit at the tap end! Upon check in, the staff will tell you not to press the hot tub button until after the bath is full, PLEASE FOLLOW THEIR INSTRUCTIONS! I just pressed all the buttons and turned all the knobs while trying to figure out how the bath worked and ended up with big, loud jets of water spraying all over the bathroom.
The room also had two cosy armchairs, plenty of storage, and a mini fridge which was perfect for keeping some snacks and drinks cool. The water in the taps is also drinkable. Plus the sink was big enough for me to fit my rather hefty water bottle underneath the tap, which I’m sure will be reassuring to anyone who, like me, has an emotional support water bottle.
The location of the hotel is brilliant if you’re planning on visiting any museums, lots of them were within very short walking distance. Also great if, like me, you’re more interested in exploring the local supermarkets, but I suppose there are supermarkets in every part of the city.
This maybe isn’t the place to stay if you’re coming to Amsterdam for the green stuff though. They were very strict on not smoking anywhere in the building, but this was perfect for us because we’re both sober.
Over all, a very pleasant stay in a very nice hotel. My biggest complaint is that there was a rug by the door which kept getting stuck any time we tried to leave or enter the room. Not a huge inconvenience...
Read moreThis really is a first class hotel in our opinion. The room was beautiful with french doors and a quiet sunny balcony which we enjoyed every morning before we sampled as much as we could of Amsterdam in a week. Hint One week is not enough!
Located in the Museumkwartier, surrounded by luxury shops such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Hermès, and perfect for the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum and countless more, you would think that this boutique style hotel (made from two 19th Century mansions) would be very expensive, especially as it is so well appointed, but in fact it's very affordable at around £/€/$120 per night.
The street is quiet, despite a nearby school. Public transport (Trams/Busses) just a street away with easy access to Schipol and Amsterdam Centraal (railway) Station.
The staff were fantastic: spoke perfect English; Very knowledgeable; Always happy to help, and when we had to go home, they looked after our luggage (for free) so we could enjoy our last free morning in Amsterdam unencumbered.
We did not eat at the hotel, so cannot report on the food, but our room had a good size refrigerator (useful if you need to refrigerate med_ication) or drinks as you can purchase snacks and drinks near reception.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hotel JL No76, and will probably want to stay again, if we stay near the museums again. (We WILL!)
