One of the interesting things to see at the Rijksmuseum is a gated garden area (free admission), located in the front of the museum, just to the right of the Iamsterdam Letters. The garden is open daily from 9am to 6pm.

This is a nice outdoor area and a good place to grab a seat and rest your feet after beating the floors of the Rijksmuseum. During my recent mid-October visit, I found the beds to have plenty of attractive plants and flowers to see. There are sculptures and busts embedded into a row of hedges, a small artificial pond and small greenhouse that you can peer into.

There is a playful fountain called 'Hide and Seek' with centre standing room encompassed by water spouts which form a circular fountain. It was enjoyable watching children enter the circle, awaiting the water bursts to begin, forming a temporary wall of water around them. This is a fun activity for children and something enjoyable to see as a curious bystander.

The Rijksmuseum Garden is a surprisingly tranquil place in the bustling museum square. There is no cost to enter so you can enjoy even if you don't intend to spend time inside the main museum building viewing...

The Rijksmuseum Garden is a stunning extension of the museum, offering visitors a calm and refreshing escape. Beautifully landscaped, it features elegant fountains, well-kept flowerbeds, and striking statues, including classical figures that add charm and character. The garden provides a peaceful retreat where one can sit, relax, and reflect after exploring the museum’s vast art collection. With its blend of history, art, and natural beauty, the Rijksmuseum Garden is not only a delight for tourists but also a perfect spot for quiet contemplation...

Dutch art collection is amazing and very much worth seeing. However, the audio tour is not user friendly and we found a couple of paintings did not match the assigned numbers which was confusing. When we asked for assistance at least three staff/guards could not explain the discrepancy. At the cafe, while the staff was polite, they were not knowledgeable about the dishes (menu has limited selection) which we ordered. In all seeing the collection...

📌 Save this for your Amsterdam trip! Who doesn’t like free?👇 1. The Begijnhof was built as a sactuary for a Catholic sisterhood who lived like nuns. Still occupied by single women, this hidden courtyard is beautifully preserved and well worth a visit. 2. All around the Rijksmuseum you’ll find lush gardens. Bring a book, grab a seat, and enjoy. 3. Vondelpark is a great place to stroll around or have a picnic. When the weather is good, you’ll find the whole city here. 4. Walk the Seven Bridges (along Reguliersgracht) for some of the best canal scenery in town. 5. From Central Station, take the free ferry across the IJ and consider exploring Amsterdam Noord. It’s a bit more artsy and industrial on that side of the river - but full of lots of gems. 6. Explore the Albert Cuyp Market - from food to flowers to fashion - it’s got a little bit of everything. 7. Visit Dam Square - there’s always something to see! The palace is an icon of the city, and the people watching is top tier. 8. Visit Damrak - one of my favorite photo spots in the city. The view of the canal houses and their reflection on the water should be seen both day and night! 9. Walk the Bloemenmarkt, a “floating” flower market. It mostly consists of spots to buy bulbs and seeds to plant, but on each end you’ll find vendors that sell beautiful bouquets and the displays are lovely. 10. Peep canal house interiors at night - it sounds weird, but it’s pretty common knowledge that the Dutch often keep their curtains open! If you walk the canals at night, you’ll see some truly stunning homes. . . . . . #amsterdam #amsterdamphotographer #amsterdamcity #amsterdamcanals #visitamsterdam

Amsterdam but (try to) make it Wes Anderson. I am the slowest person to jump onto trends but this trend is beautiful 🥲. I really enjoyed walking around Amsterdam with @pollzable finding all the symmetries ❤️ The best find of our day was the garden by Rijksmuseum which was in perfect bloom. So if you are ever in Amsterdam, don’t miss it! ———————————- 📹: @pollzable #accidentallywesanderson #wesanderson #wesandersonstyle #amsterdam_streets #amsterdamcanals #dametraveler #amsterdam #topamsterdamphoto #amsterdamvibe #iamsterdam #girlaroundworld #sheisnotlost #ootdgals #traveldreamseekers #womenwhoexplore #yololttw #cybercorner #damestravel #girlsthatwander #iamtb #topamsterdamphoto
