Before I share my experience, I would like to mention that I worked in the longest forbes five star, triple A five diamond restaurant in the world - so my comments are solely based on professional insight. I have also dined in many restaurants with all sorts of stars and ratings so my experience as a guest will also be considered.
Pros: unique concept, comfortable seating, creative food presentation, the cooks/chefs are careful with allergies, the wine selection is also reasonably good.
Cons: relative to the price, the waiters need to he more knowledgeable about the food options and so do the kitchen cooks. They thought vegetarians eat fish, and still do not completely grasp the concept of what vegan is which in my opinion is shocking if any restaurant these days does not know. Also the price of dinner, drinks and side dishes are slightly overpriced especially seeing the restaurant is not rated or highly awarded. They do however have won an award in 2019. Lastly, the portion sizes need to he slightly larger as the whole table was not entirely full after a six course meal... Some of the dishes were literally one bite.
It is clear that there is room for a lot of improvement, but there is also a lot of potential. My advice would be focus on a particular target population, train the waiters to be more knowledgeable about the food items, educate the cooks on the different types of diets people have and make the visual show a less childish and less repetitive. All the best and thank you for...
Read moreDinner in Motion is more about the spectacle than the food, but that’s part of the fun. The 360-degree light show transforms the dining room into different worlds, from bustling markets to deep space, creating a unique but sometimes dizzying experience. The food? Good, but not wowwwwly amazing.
The amuse of Nori, Tuna, and Gochujangblini was a flavorful start, followed by a Blini with Herring Roe, Bacon, and Celery, which was decent but forgettable. The Peking Duck with cortido, forest fruits, and black beans balanced sweet and savory well, while the Squeeze dish—Orzo, Dashi, and Lime Leaf—offered a light but satisfying broth-like experience. The Hamachi with Pumpkin, Ponzu, and Coconut Ceviche stood out for its bright, fresh flavors.
For the main, I had Flat Iron Steak with Veal Gravy, Onion Compote, and Turnip. It leaned too raw for my medium-rare preference, but considering they served 20+ people at once, it was still impressive. The Blood Orange dessert with Dark Chocolate, Baileys, and Five Spice was a boozy, decadent highlight. One thing I really appreciated was how well they handled dietary restrictions—they made my entire meal gluten-free, even providing a replacement for the bread, which is very much appreciated.
What truly stood out was the service—attentive and smooth, which is top-tier by Dutch standards. While I wouldn’t return for the food alone, the experience is worth trying once if you want something different...
Read moreAvoid this. The visual experience is nice, albeit gimmicky, but can certainly not distract from the disappointing quality of food.
The vegan springroll main feature is a bland taste and doughy texture. It seemed to pick up after that: the tartare mini bites were not bad, and the fish that followed was the best of the evening. It was tasty despite the unnecessary soggy toppings of onion and samphire.
It all went downhill fast with the main course. The tournedos was tough and well done but most annoyingly, it had a livery taste. It tastes like a piece of meat that didn't get the time to age at all. The vegetables were bland.
The ice dessert that followed was a dime a dozen. The final course existed of a single white chocolate marble, without any other flavouring at all. Lazy and an insult to customers to call that a course.
The wine came included. The white was pretty good, but the red fell far behind.
Of course you pay for the visual experience and you have to factor that in. But even when you do that, the overall quality is far below what you can expect when you pay over €100.
Most worrying though is that the server had no appropriate response to a large shard of toothpick that was in one of our desserts. Not even an apology... Nothing.
Edit March 21: The restaurant contacted promptly to apologise for the toothpick and sent a nice gift to make up...
