La Rochelle Motel — Hotel in Banks Peninsula Community

My son and his partner had invited me to go on a road trip adventure in New Zealand and Akaroa was our first stop after Christchurch. I really would have been happy to cancel the rest of the trip and stay here for a couple of weeks!|The location is perfect, set within easy walking distance of all the local attractions, restaurants and shops.|The two apartments were beautifully set out, extremely clean and comfortable and equipped with top quality amenities. (The towels were especially nice being soft and luxurious!)|One of the special features was the balcony overlooking the stream and complete with the constant sound of birdsong. This provided a serene and peaceful environment for relaxation.|The owners were friendly and helpful (and it was so good that they had a stock of almond milk for the vegan members of the group.)|I can highly recommend this motel for either a short or long stay to anyone seeking a peaceful and comfortable retreat on the edge of this interesting...

I would absolutely NOT recommend this hotel. We tried to book for 2 nights over the weekend, and asked if they would lower the price for the second night due to it being in less demand and finding other properties with better views for a significantly cheaper price. She advised that wasn’t possible so we decided that we would like to book anyway so we could stay in the one place. She rudely hung our call up, then repetitively hung up all further calls and then took the phone off the line. We tried to call back an hour or so later and she rudely greeted us and said she was now booked out. The hotel is not booked out as it is still on all booking platforms online. We were looking forward to our weekend in Akaroa but I don’t think you deserve any support with your business if this is the service you give....
