A fantastic experience. We chose Ecoseaker because we knew they were a family run business which had the conservation of wildlife in the local area at the heart of their ethos. We went on a small boat with a group of 10 people. It was not long before we found a pod of Hector Dolphins. Steve was really knowledgable of the dolphins and understood their behaviour really well. He knew when it was safe and and a good chance to 'swim' with the dolpins. On quite a few occassions we were able to get in the water with the dolphins and they would swim around us and be really curious. Steve also told us some local knowledge of Akaroa and other wildlife. We were really lucky to see a penguin and some fur seals. Towards the end of the boat trip, we were treated with some hot chocolate and a biscuit. Danny who was also on the boat, was really helpful and knowledgeable of the dolphins. We are so glad and happy that we chose ecoseaker and not another more commercial company. Thank you...
Read moreWe went on a tour with Ecoseaker last week with a small group. Important to us was that we’d love to spot and interact with the Hector dolphins in the Akaroa Harbour without disturbing them in any way. We were very happy to confirm Steve from Ecoseaker was on exactly the same page.
Steve is a really knowledgeable and passionate guide who not only knows a lot about the Hector dolphins, but the area, history and other animals living there. It made for a great, enjoyable and informative time. Since you’re heading into the dolphin’s natural habitat and they are not lured or baited in any kind (as it should be) there’s no guarantees you’ll see dolphins. We were lucky and did ran into some curious dolphins that hung around the boat a bit and swam along our group when we were in the water. But even if we hadn’t run into any dolphins, it would’ve been a pleasant and informative couple hours out at sea. Thanks for the...
Read moreMy partner and I had a great experience with this company. Steve our main guide is a true generational local with a passion for sharing information about the area and the wildlife. Beth his support lady has the perfect personality for getting us all organised and sharing about the dolphins. The dolphins weren't interested in engaging with us on this trip which was a little disappointing but that's nature - they were busy doing dolphin things! What impressed us around this was the patience & respect offered to the dolphins - that we were in their environment and on their timeframe and nothing was rushed or pushed to occur. Simply being out there, seeing them from the boat, having a bob in the water when there was an opportunity was great. Seeing the tall cliffs, a native penguin and the seals bathing was...
