Akaroa Corner Cafe .. previously known as Peninsula General Store — Restaurant in Banks Peninsula Community

We stopped here for lunch yesterday. The filled omelette was loaded with flavour and my friend had the home made beef and cheese pie. Tracey the manager was very helpful and she and the staff will remember me well. I’m the idiot who first of all left his bag under the table after lunch and had to go back for it from Barry’s Bay. I then left my phone on a stool when I went back to pick up my bag later that day. I didn’t know where I’d lost it so I had to go back to lyttleton to get my iPad to “find my phone”. Came here because of the good reviews but it seems like the few one stars are a more accurate representation. Place was pretty quiet when we ordered but still took over 35 minutes for our three takeaway 3 drinks to be made. Been twice for a coffee and a pie. The coffee was good. The steak & mushroom pie was ordinary at best. 1st time the pie was incredibly hot, pastry soggy. 2nd time pie was Luke warm with soggy pastry. I'm guessing that they microwave their pies which will make the pastry soggy. My advice, keep your pies in the pie warmer so the pastry stays crispy. Staff were pleasant. ...
