I’m sorry but I wouldn’t even call this place a bronze star motel let alone a Goldstar. What planet are these people on. My daughter had booked over a month in advance as she knew their travel from Australia was going to start early in the morning and arriving in NZ at 3.30pm right around peak traffic, so booking in for the night was the best thing to do for a night before another long drive to Gisborne. I had also travelled 6 hrs that day to pick up my daughter, husband, 2yr old and 2mth old. We arrIved at Motel at 4.45pm and on entering the room it had a musky smell and dirty scuff marks on the walls I didn’t want to say anything at this point as I knew they just wanted to sit down to relax and baby was crying for a feed and a grizzling 2yr old needed to have a run around. I went in the toilet only to see that all the skirting boards were thick with dirt this carried on into the rest of the rooms. There was traces of toothpaste and conditioner on the shower curtain. By this time I was screwing my nose and thinking of how thilthy this place was. After looking at my daughter she had a screwed up face also. We had been thinking the same thing. I mean the furnishing maybe outdated the stove was much to be desired. I can live with that but how dirty the place was. Never! How can these people get a license to be in this sort of business, I’m sure there must be regulations and standards before anyone is allowed to open up to the public. Too disgusting for my grandchildren and my Australian son in law to see what NZ has to offer in the way of accomodation. The bright side is when I confronted him, he willingly gave a full refund. He then told me he will have a talk to the cleaners. I said are you kidding me these dirt marks have been there for a long time. Even in his reception area was thick with dirt. The downside is we were now on the motorway heading out of Auckland in search of another Motel at 6pm. My daughter has said she has learned a very important lesson, always check the reviews for any...
Read moreOMG please, please avoid this crappy motel. I have never stayed in a place that is so disgusting, the owners are rude and the cleaner doesn't know what the hell she is doing. We paid as soon as we arrived or else we wouldn't have stayed there. The bathroom was disgusting with hair left everywhere, soap scum and mould all over toilet, hand basin and shower. Window sills looked like they had never been wiped down EVER. There were toe nail clippings still sitting on the bedside unit and used condoms not only under the bed but in the beside cabinet drawers. We called the owner down to complain and all he could say was that the room was clean and that his cleaner had to do it quickly that day because they were busy. We said that we weren't going to stay there at all and he refused to refund us any of the money we had paid. Owners never knocked, just walked straight into the room when ever they felt like it. We had to deadbolt the door to stop this happening. There is a large hall or church right outside rooms that has Samoan singers in it from the afternoon until all hours of the morning then they start again at around 6.30 am. How this place is still running is beyond me. They even steal supermarket trolleys from Countdown for their cleaning gear. Holes in the walls and doors, not even enough plates or glasses in the rooms for the amount of people staying. We later found out that they rent rooms by the day. You couldn't force me to stay there again. Am going to report this place because of the state of it. Totally totally...
Read moreDo not stay here. This place is absolutely disgusting. I have never been so grossed out in my life. The room had blood over all the curtains , the room was dated and beds were lumpy and extremely uncomfortable and would flip when you would rolled to the other side. The sheets were filthy and made everyone’s skin itchy. We ended up staying awake the whole night to protect our belongs and not to catch what ever was in the beds. The bathroom was the worst part. The roof and walls were covered an green and black mould and the shower floor was grimey and slippery. The motel is hosting Housing New Zealand guest who are extremely noisy parting until early hours of the morning. Cars were racing up and down the driveway all night and the other guest were threatening us and implying they were going to steal our belongings. We had to drop our car to a family members in Auckland as we were told the car would be broken into if we left it in the car park. When we approached the manager and explained our distress he said “ you are a liar , you have a plan and trying to get your money back from me” We explained we were not looking for money, we wanted him to realise this place is foul and not suitable for guests. He kept saying “you are a liar, you are a dirty liar , you planted the dirt”. We explained we had seen illegal activity within the premises and he told us he was going to contact the other guest to come “have a chat” with us. Cutting it short DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SICK AND...
