Vapor Restaurant — Restaurant in Māngere-Ōtāhuhu

My family and I visited this restaurant pre-Covid for the breakfast menu and honestly the service and quality was better then. We visited the restaurant on Christmas Day for the buffet dinner and honestly found it so disappointing for the price $325 as a party of seven. (3 chn and four adults) The mussels and prawns were disturbingly undersized (thumb). There were no jugs of water on offer so you had to walk back and forth to the fountain. Desserts were skimming, no mousse, jelly, fruit salad or fresh fruit, steamed pudding, whipped cream, custard or ice cream. The mains were dry and over baked like they had been sitting for some time. No chips, nuggets or fish fingers for the kids menu. Cheeseboard was under the heat so it was difficult to separate the pieces. We had the buffet. It was NOT worth $48 per person and did not include all items advertised. The menu on the website suggested there were at least 5 seafood offerings but there were only mussels. There was no Yum Cha. fact there were very few items on the website menu that were at the actual buffet. While the menu does state subject to change, the menu and what was on offer were not at all the same. The service wasn’t great either, when we tried to order a drink we were told to go to the bar (which means leaving the restaurant). Had our family Christmas dinner here lastnight and it was the worst experience from last time i was here 6 or 7 years ago. The staff looks like they don't want to be at work and the menu was not nice at all especially for Christmas time, nothing cater for the kids apart from dried ham. Please when you do buffet, also have some food for the kids like chips, nuggets, pizza, sushi or food that kids likes to eat. Paid 26 dollars per head for the kids and they didnt eat much at all as i had to ask for some chips or something for them to eat.
