To whom it may concern,
My self Harley and my partner had decided to stay at your hotel for the convenience of the shuttle to airport. Unfortunately we did not read any reviews about this hotel which I know wish I did. Among arrival we were not greeted when we walked in and we revived a hostile attitude from lady behind the desk.
After getting our room key we started to walk to our room and the place was a mess, there was wood clipping and dust in the hall ways and was not a great feeling.
The first night we wanted to go get dinner in this flash nice restaurant that you have advertised. We walked in at 8.40 and found 2 staff members watching t.v around fire having a talk. We stood there for awhile then we're told to take a seat. We order two simple meals a salid and a steak. 35 min later our meal arrived then was told they are now closing and we have to eat in our rooms. Not a big deal but not good. We paid for a dinner and went to our room ($64). I get to room ready to dive into my meal to see over cooked vegetables, mash potato out of a packet and a gravie made out of who knows what. But steak cooked perfect I might add. My partners Salid is brown and the dressing was disgusting. Nothing made fresh at all.
Shower time, oh wait the shower head in our shower is broken....... and to top it off rubish from the last people who stayed in this room. I don't believe this room has been cleaned before we arrived in it. Not a healthy feeling.
Spa time..... oh no wait we have to wait 2 hours before we can get in. I can live with that Oh no we also have to pay for that as well which there is no signs on the pool saying this. Not made clear on your Web site or any other site you advertise on that you have to pay for this.
I would have thought with all the renovations happening around our room we may have been offered a better room or a discount as this morning I woke up to banging, yelling from your employees and trade people.
Battery's in remotes not working, bulbs blowen in lamps, little things are going to happen but when it's a few issues at once it's not ok.
This is by far the worst experience my partner and I have ever had a do believe we are in our rights to ask for you to evaluate our payment and booking and possible look at refunding us part if not all of our money.
Our next step after this will be to contact the right people to investigate all the bad reviews and the way we have been treated in this hotel.
On a good note I did feel the bed was clean and amazing to sleep in.
I do look forward to hearing from you please do call me or email me...
Read moreHad read a LOT of reviews about this place before booking. A lot mentioned the absolutely shoddy cleaning standards this place has. Unfortunately there being nothing else really available for the night i needed, I decided to chance a stay here. I had stayed at other VR Properties in the past, and they have been okay.
Arrived late after a long drive. Guy at Reception was pretty cold and disinterested. No directions or anything, just a vague wave of the hand towards the rooms. It was only after I had lugged all my bags through to my room, that I realized I could literally park right outside the ranchslider and unload the car there.
On first impressions the room was actually okay. I mean it was certainly battered. The hard life of a Airport Hotel, meant the place was definitely showing its age and damage. All in all, I found the Cleanliness to be quite good. Linen was all white, all clean. No spots or stains. No rogue hairs in the bathroom. So no real issues there. The Shampoo/Body Wash stuff provided was actually really really nice stuff, and there was plenty of them all.
Room had two Beds, Wall Mounted Telly, a Desk, Fridge, Coffee Making Station and a Bathroom with shower. Just a basic, standard Hotel Room. Bed was comfortable, and I slept pretty well. Few noises from next door rooms and the hallways, but nothing too obnoxious. Air Conditioning unit kept the room pretty cool on this muggy Autumn night.
Continental Breakfast was included, but it did seem to be a pretty rundown, barren sort of affair. Not a lot to choose from, with all the fruit options looking pretty sad. Even the Orange Juice tasted off and weird. I must say, the Croissants were delicious. Warm, Fluffy and tasty. But don't expect much more than some cereal or some toast.
Location of the Hotel is excellent, located just off a State Highway 20 Motorway offramp. The Airport is literally only a few minutes drive, with Buses regularly passing the front door. The Airport Shopping Mall is also a very quick drive down the road.
Unfortunately I did find the price to be rather expensive for the offering. But all in all, I slept well, the room was comfortable and clean, and it was close to where I needed to be. The Customer Service was pretty poor, and that does definitely need to be worked on.
I would consider staying again if the price...
Read moreI stayed here with my partner for two nights to conclude a three week trip around the north island before taking flight back home. We selected this hotel due to the reasonable pricing of a private room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, despite the warnings of other reviews. For the price point and proximity to Auckland Airport, we found this hotel more than suitable and we would both recommend this hotel to those conscious of budget. However, transparency is important, because I feel others are reviewing this with the 'perfect hotel' in mind and are ignoring the appeal that a budget hotel will hold for others. We paid around $100 NZD per night for a private room with three beds and ensuite with the booking being made on the day of check in.
Pros: Wonderful and friendly staff, an onsite kitchen/bar with delicious food, and a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport. The rooms were suited with air conditioning, TV, a tea and coffee station, personal fridge, clean and well made beds, a hot shower with reasonable pressure and spread, clean towels, plenty of storage space, lots of power points available, and a sliding door to immediately access fresh air.
Cons: Carpet in room wasn't vacuumed, mould apparent on bathroom skylight, USB charging points in both lamps didn't work, on one of our nights there was a party with music that went on until 11pm, the onsite pool/tub looks like it hasn't been in service for a while, and the hallways can be difficult to navigate at first as the walls look the same and there are very few signs.
Overall we feel the cons were negligible considering the price point of our stay. If these minor issues bother you then feel free to pay twice or triple the rates with their competitors. We would like to thank the staff at Airport Gateway Hotel for our...
