Cool Change Bar & Eatery — Restaurant in Martinborough Community

Having just arrived in Martinborough, I wasn't sure what we were in for. Sure, it's a wine town, but that means different things around the world, so I didn't want to be too high in my expectations. But after dinner at Cool Change all of my expectations for the region are going to need to beat that very high bar. The gnocchi was spectacular. The fish was good, but the lamb was exquisite. So much bette than the wall paper would have allowed me to expect. I loved the art, and the kitsch vibe, but I really didn't enjoy the wall paper.

The service however was brilliant. Casual banter and lots of fun, but still perfectly on point. Can't rate her highly enough!! Perfect for the venue and a real asset to the team. (Dark haired girl who worked Wednesday Jan 26 - give her a raise)

Dont bother with this place!!! Spent a weekend away in this lovely town. But was treated very poorly in this pub. Was accused of harassing some girls by the owner and refused service. I had actually been invited to sit with them. .but asked to step out for a chat. Explained i had been invited to sit with them , Went inside and the girls confirmed this... Later that evening the owner was terribly rude and refused due to that situation. Which was sorted. Would not recommend give your hard earned money to this unfriendly and rude owner and patrons were just as unwelcoming..Couldn't believe it honestly. Where is the rural atmosphere i hoped for. Honestly felt like a criminal and I was having a great day until this happened. Completely ruined my weekend...

I've been here many times with family and friends. It gets a bit noisy (as one would expect) when there's a game on, but there is a back room that is a bit quieter. Their chips are addictive, and I adore their Rosebud cocktail! Everything I've had from the regular menu has been delicious, I haven't eaten often from the bar menu, but on my last visit I had the wheel of Camembert... It was delicious!! When eating from the restaurant menu, We have occasionally asked for changes in a particular dish, and the chef has been very accommodating. Everything has been delicious! This is a warm and inviting place to be, and I have enjoyed every visit, I hope you do too, as I would like Cool Change to stay in business for a very...
