Gateway International Motel — Hotel in North Island

I would rate the motel as -5 stars, if it would have been possible. The most disgusting place I've ever been to in my entire life. We paid almost $400 for a night, for the family suite, due to the peak season. It does not even deserve $10 a night!

The state of the rooms was horrendous, dirty moist carpets, old torn out furniture, rusty kitchen sink, filthy cupboards etc. The Washroom was below, below par! Rusty taps, pale and yellowish toilet bowls, shower from probably the 1800s. The so called 'Mineral Pools' reminded me of the slums from that movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

The sign board outside mentions 'SKY' on it. Please do not be fooled by that, they offer the same old poverty pack freeview.

The only thing good about this motel was the fish n chips shop next to it (I hope Gateway does not take credit for that).

The Rotorua Motel Association (not even sure if it exists) must have an audit of this motel and shut it down! I am so glad I am back home, I can breathe again...Please DO NOT waste your hard earned money on this place, if you cannot find any better place, or an Air BnB, I would suggest that you wait....

False advertising !!! all photos on website is old maybe 10+ years ago. after 15 years experience living in this beautiful country with different accommodation this was the worst experience I ever come across.Feeling like living in a Ghetto. Price was way too high for what its have. the photos on website it was taken maybe 10 years ago.Right now they need to rebuild this place.My lil family first time in Rotorua and we cant even sleep that night . My issues with this motel: No1: Pretty basic bed Stain and you smell the dusty No2: Cups and Glasses were stained, looked like they hadn't been cleaned properly. we ended up buying our own cutlery. No3: Bathroom.Mold basin wasn't that clean, Dirty dusty floor, no blinds on the door between bathroom and walking out to spa pool. we never used the spa pool any way because it didn't look like it hadn't been used for a long time. First the managers both have very bad attitudes and both very rude - and do not know what good customer service is, the Maori workers were really nice, and gave us alot of fresh towels to use which was appreciated but the rooms were disgusting, we had a group booking for 7 families, it was roached infested and so dirty with hair balls left in the showers that had no proper lighting, there was no running hot water in some of the showers too, and then the spa pool and the mineral pools were horrible, looked like an old concrete prison cell with a square pit filled steaming hot water - something like out of a horror film.. I wouldnt let even my pets swim in there, wish I could upload the pictures I took and the videos.
