Golden Glow Motel — Hotel in North Island

By far the worst motel my family and I have stayed in! We were welcomed on to the grounds by mountains of ripped out carpet, I understand renovations may be underway, however it was a very slum look for the place, a skip bin perhaps would help. The room was absolutely disgusting. Upon arrival my partner had to fix a door knob that had been broken so we could use the door. I had to rehook curtains that were broken so we could close them, however so many hooks were broken that the curtains werent able to shut the full way. The walls were super dirty, as well as the skirtings and ceilings. Cobwebs and mould throughout the room. The main door was cracked and broken (you could see from the inside through to the outside). A front window couldn't shut, we even tried having one person push from the outside while the other inside pulled, it didn't work.. So this is a security concern as well as the fact it is winter and cold. The bathroom had no toilet paper holder, just sat on top of the toilet. Cobwebs and mould over the bathroom ceiling. No hand soap to wash your hands!?? Luckily I had some soap in the car! The linen was stained which made it look dirty. A couple of live cockroaches in the room. There was not a single smoke alarm in the room. And to top it off you can only use one appliance (jug, toaster, microwave) at a time, otherwise you may blow a fuse!...

This motel is definitely NOT worth the 3 star rating it has. It's extremely over priced for what it is.

We booked the room for 2nights, how ever we left after the first night (only stayed the one night as we were exhausted) we checked out as soon as possible because of how dirty, unsecure and unhygienic it was. Would not recommend...

False advertising this place is absolutely disgusting nothing “Golden or Glowing” the photos on the website must be photo shopped. From the minute we pulled in the signs were there waited outside the office for 20mins before we got service and were we in for a rude awakening the female was rude kept talking in her language to another person and pointing at us like we had disrupted her sleep even thought it was 11.30am. Checked into our room well what a sight for sore eyes bugs and cobwebs welcomed us on the sliding door entry. Room smelt musty, tv the size of an iPad was on a shelf at the foot of a single bed. Bedding was stained there was mold on the netting curtains, looked for the aircon and found a pedestal fan in the cupboard, little table in a corner seats were stained, carpets had stains, cutlery was sticky and plates chipped. Bathroom had 2 towels frayed and stained shower had broken shampoo dispenser no conditioner supplied, shower head was covered in calcium build up shower curtain moldy, bathroom window had a build up of mold in the internal grooves and bugs all over the ceiling, toilet was leaking reported to staff when we came back they place a towel on the floor. Definitely old and outdated ballistrades are a hazard show signs of bad deterioration and the walk way was a thin piece of board. I left and raised my concerns with the host who waved and nodded. Worst place ever spoilt our trip for sure there are beautiful hotels in Rotorua this hotel isn’t one of them. If I could rate it it would be -7.0 no stars for anything but location. Had to give stars to post but honestly 0...

I wish we didn't have to book last minute. Room 19, upper level... I am guessing it is emergency hotel acceptable because this place was not it. Dont come here if you are looking for all condiments. No soap, toilet seat was ugly, gave squatting vibes. Beds were just munted with body grooves and so uncomfortable. Check for bed bugs cause that's just me and the mattress was dirty, nothing a little spot clean couldn't fix. 2 singles pushed together. No pressure in shower, calcium build up. No soap to wash dishes or clothes to wipe stuff. Arrived late check in, Parking was ridiculous and when we asked to park the car elsewhere, we were declined and when I made him visually come see why we couldn't park there, he look like he ate a lemon. Windows didn't close in bathroom, so heating a room with a window open is quite a challange. The floors are dirty and the carpet just looks Looks nothing like the photos on here. Driveway has the biggest pothole, and with the show car we had it took a moment to address how we were going to get in without damaging our car. The stairs... please pray for your life... these should be band and condemned. Woke up to a lady screaming her lungs out at her kids at 6.30am, quite traumatizing. We left our charger behind, we rang and asked if we could have it sent back to us and we were told it wasn't there. Quite annoying... cause we know it is. Best thing about this place is the fish and chip shop 2 doors over... Fresh seafood and really nice service, there's also a butcher and vege shop straight...
