Worst experience ever. Please read all bullet points before you consider staying here or just book somewhere else:
The kitchenette had no hot water! There was is no cook-top or oven. It did have a microwave, toaster, electric frying pan, bar fridge, jug, cutlery etc.
This place needs to increase their security, or to better manage noisy tenants. We suspect some of the units have permanent residences.
Walls are thin and all windows are not double glazed. So it can be a struggle to get a good nights sleep if there are noisy people outside or if some of the neighboring units party all night.
Luckily, our unit was split level. It had another separate bedroom upstairs, where we sent our young kids to sleep as there was not as much noise. However, we could still hear people through the walls from the unit next door.
A group of young 'locals' decided our front porch, would make a fitting place to gather and drink alcohol on our last night there. They were very loud. We had just arrived home after a long day trip to Napier, we had no energy to ask them to leave or to be considerate of paying guests. Also, this gathering didn't appear to bother the Managers (who live onsite!), as they did nothing to dissolve this party.
The next morning we found a glass beer bottle had been placed behind our car tire, lucky I spotted it! Otherwise our road trip back home would have cost us a new tire!
I noticed a few spiders in our unit (on the towel, on the toilet ceiling and in one of the single beds)
The unit had a funny smell, and it wasn't coming from the local geysers. I think it was the Plunge Pool in the bathroom, which was not clean, I could see alot of debris floating on the bottom of the Plunge Pool. There is no Air-Conditioning, so the smell couldn't escape.
-The Plunge Pool is in the center of the bathroom, therefore you are not permitted to lock the bathroom window (as per the signage) otherwise it creates mildew. These pools should be place outside the back of the units in my opinion. A bit weird being in the middle of the bathroom. Also, beware its very Hot. Not suitable for young kids. My 5 year old, said it was too hot for him.
The Wifi was really bad. It kept disconnecting.
Our room appeared to have the rubbish bins emptied while we were away, however they took our disposable coffee cups out of the rubbish bin and placed it back on the bench (thought that was rather weird!)
When we checked-out, the staff did not ask how our stay was.
What a disappointing...
Read moreA relatively inexpensive accommodation for families and large groups - especially if splitting the bill which is a real plus for the budget, however do note that the facility is very very basic and only really accommodates making a cup of tea, taking a shower and sleeping so i wouldn't class this place as a cozy or luxury facility.
The bathrooms do need renovating and there should be more than just two tea bags supplied to the guests, however as there is no stove you will find yourself organising food out anyway. Also be aware that there is no fan or AC units available and the rooms get super hot in the summer and this makes sleep rather difficult if you are sensitive to temperatures so you might want to plan ahead
The lady owner was quite helpful and pleasant to deal with and offered to take care of our reservations at local to-do's, however we didn't feel the guy owner was as similarily helpful as he did tell us to go and figure an attraction out for ourselves rather than helping himself which was mildly disappointing.
All up, no major complaints in the end as we were literally there for just a night whilst transiting through Rotorua. Would stay here again if only looking for...
Read moreWe stayed overnight here recently on a family trip to Rotorua. Firstly, the good: we have four kids and baby, and the 2-bedroom apartment comfortably fit all of us in. They hadn't received my request for a portacot by email but when we checked in, found us one straight away and brought it to the room. The kitchenette was handy and clean. In fact, the whole unit was clean and tidy. The 'bad': Not really bad, more in need of improvement, was the decor and paintwork, which was really dated and in places in poor condition. The bathrooms especially need work to modernise them. The floor around the plunge pool gets super slippery and my daughter fell and hit her head on the tile floor (luckily she was ok) when getting out of the pool. The plunge pool itself was old and not very inviting. The sulphur smell of Rotorua was particularly strong at the motel. All in all though, it was adequate for our needs as...
