Stayed for one night in room 2, a Deluxe Studio with my partner.
Very clean and well presented. All usual towels and such were provided. Small kitchenette with a mostly empty fridge for your own food. A microwave and a small cook top. Some pot, pans, plates, cutlery etc... Usual instant coffee, tea, hot chocolate and some UHT milk. Parking available for one spot per room. Off street parking available nearby if you need it. Large bathroom, very clean and a good shower. Arm chairs, coffee table and tv. Small table and chairs to eat at. Nice toiletries provided, better than most motels I've stayed in.
Both air conditioned and thermally heated. Lovely and warm with the air conditioning off. Air conditioning got the room cool for sleeping with ease.
The bed and pillows were a little soft for my liking, but I'm a bit picky. We usually bring our own pillows with us (and we did this time too).
The chairs in front of the tv though were too hard, ended up laying on the bed instead, which was just fine.
It was a little noisy in the room at check-in (2pm) due to noise from the staff in the reception area next door, you probably won't have this issue in any other deluxe studio. However, we left the room and went out, when we returned that evening, after reception had closed, there was no noise, including overnight and into the morning. Reception closes at 6:30pm, if you arrive late, they will arrange a complementary self check-in for you.
There is no mineral pool. Which is just fine, it's not advertised as having one, though there's some evidence they did have one in the past. Given the price, cleanliness and quality I was very happy. If you want mineral pools, I'd recommend staying here and visiting one of the local spa's.
Overall a good experience, I'd gladly stay here again and...
Read moreImpressed by this motel. Don’t usually stay in motels and was a bit nervous about what to expect, esp after what I had read online about Fenton Street. Luckily, my fears were unfounded and we had a very comfortable 2 night stay at Thermal Oak. The man at check in was helpful and all went smoothly and most importantly the room was impressively clean. Parking can get a bit narrow and if you stay out late for dinner you risk having to park by the roadside but still there’s plenty of spots on street. Nice smelling Manuka honey toiletries but the shampoo was rather drying and no conditioner was provided so I was glad I brought some with me. WiFi fast and easy to connect to. We didn’t hear our neighbours and the hotel was pretty much fully occupied judging from the car park so the noise insulation appeared ok. Decent sized fridge, clean kitchen utensils and plates, very good water pressure in the shower. Not much more I can ask for. Thanks for a...
Read moreI booked this place due to the numerous good reviews it has and also the price was very reasonable. I was hesitant because the motels I visited in the US were not ideal in terms of cleanliness and safety.
The check in was smooth but I had made the mistake of unloading our luggage into the lobby. There are parking lots next to my unit and I could had just unloaded there. Our 3 bedroom unit is very clean with a small kitchenette, L-shaped sofa and dining table. Toilets were very spacious and had constant hot water. Beds were comfortable as well and we all had great sleep.
Location is also very good. It was a short walk into town, and an even shorter drive. 10/10 would stay here again if I am back. On a side note, there is a sulfur smell when you step out of the unit but within the unit it was okay. This seems normal throughout Rotorua but...
