Reception required $300 bond-cash only not on the business card?? so we had to go and get $300 cash and then they don't have receipt book to give me a receipt for $300??. We had two rooms, one room upstairs for four adults, one combined room for eight adults (loud noise all night) limited ventilation. Our upstairs room-we had to walk outside to deck then back into the corridor and there was only showers and toilets downstairs. Shared bathrooms for males and females-showers-ceilings and surrounding run down and not maintained. On arriving I took notice that the stove is not what is in the website photos. Rusty microwave, not maintained at all. We were a group of 12 and there were only 9 bowls for the whole backpackers. Spoke to the staff and was told: "if you don't like it stay somewhere else". Not managed well I guess-free advice-I am sure the Salvation Army will give you free bowls!! Lots of people stay there long term for work in this area-bottles and bottle of rubbish in outside area. Staff were not warm and to be honest-I was upset by their excuses they made for everything. Owners in China, Manager is away....blah blah....anyway the bonus is we had a fantastic Turkish dinner and spent the night across the road at...
Read moreFrom the moment I arrived at this hostel I was welcomed by staff and everyone who was already living in this hostel. The staff on reception are so nice and I ended being very good friends with them. Everyone was so friendly and it was very easy to make friends as I was travelling by myself. I was invited to go out on the night I first arrived and by the end of the end of the night I had literally met the whole hostel, its a small hostel which is great as it means everyone is like a family, the vibes here are so chilled. I ended up staying in this hostel for 7 months. There is a good mix of work and party. I have made friends here that I will have for life. the facilities are in good condition also as its a small hostel the kitchen is a little small which can crowded when everyone is trying to cook all at once, there is only 1 washing machine and dryer in the whole hostel but there is a laundrette down the road which is pretty much the same price and has numerous machines there. there are 3 showers for all in the hostel but you never find yourself having to wait for...
Read moreI have stayed a second time now and still bad. When I first checked in the owner had a go at me for leaving a not best review last time. She tried to decline me on the spot but it was emergency accommodation for the night.
The bathrooms were just as bad as I remember, holes in the walls and more the room was so stuffy when I first walked in there like windows hadn’t been opened in days and the bed I could feel the springs in the mattress and the duvets had dust on them
It says on a poster when you go up the stairs quiet time is from 10:30pm and at 12:30am and 2 am there were people in the hallway making so much noise I had to end up putting my ear plugs in just so I could get some sleep.
Also when I went to check in yesterday it says check in from 2pm and I got there just a tad after 2 to check in as I had appointments and they were not friendly about it.
Next time I’ll just be going somewhere else if my normal place I stay...
