Salisbury Wharf at Tauranga Visited on 29/1/2019
Our cruise ship docks at Port of Tauranga.
Once alighted from the ship, my friends and I look for a local tour company to take us around. We do not have any luck, because two ships arrive almost at the same time, and most tourists booked before arrival.
We continue to walk from the almost empty carpark and pass Salisbury Wharf. It is nothing really spectacular, probably the atmosphere may be different in the evening.
I can imagine the wharf is an ideal place to spend time sitting and looking at the ships as they come and go by.

Read moreWe go there whenever we can to eat our lunch while watching the antics of the Fisher folk on the wharf. The swimmers in the bay and of course are sometimes interesting but the antics of the gulls as they circle about trying to get to where the next lot of scraps are likely to be tossed out are indeed s lot of fun. Read moreNice area but NO SHADE. For the melanoma capital of NZ that's rather ridiculous. There is a rather nice shade thing above the sandpit but for the price that must have been paid for this I feel money would have been better spent on shade sails for the whole area. Also playground is for older kids rather than under 5yrs. Wrong people were asked about the design of this area when it was built. Shame because the wonderful Hairy Mcleary statues are a real...
