Unfortunately, the good things I found at this place I cannot mention because I had the worst experience that I ever had traveling around NZ. On Monday 15.05.23 around 9pm, a Mouse (yes, a mouse) appeared from underneath the bed. I was terrified, I was shaking, I was scared and that was a normal reaction, because, nobody except a rat in the room. Straight away I texted the owner and she told me that she knew about the mouse and she asked me to move to the next room, I did but I could not sleep these night. I was so scared, I did not think about leaving the place or asking for a refund, I was in shock. I was solo. Two days after the owner offer me an extra night free of charge. I could not accept it. I can say now, in my home I am calm and safe, this is unacceptable I paid $676.5 for three nights for the place there was a rat in the room. It was awful. They managed the situation so lightly and I felt they were not empathetic at all with me. In absolute, I cannot...
Read moreOur stay at Oceans 88 in Whitianga was blissful. Ken and Delwyn are wonderful hosts so genuine and down to earth. The property is immaculately maintained and has everything you need to get off grind and unwind! It's in a lovely quiet location right on the water with a small private jetty and has a lovely pool, hot tub and kayaks which you can paddle out from the private jetty. They go above and beyond to help with whatever you need from activity, dining and tour recommendations, Ken even raced back to get my washing off the line when it started raining as he knew we were out. We stayed in the 4 bedroom waterfront apartment which was stunning, it is an older style apartment with lots of charm and a rustic beachside vibe. It is beautifully styled and presented with stunning water views and direct access to the pool and hot tub. We didn't want to leave. I highly recommend a stay here, you won't find a more personal experience...
Read moreHey, you can't fault a bloke who not only didn't charge us for early check-in but took the trouble to message us ta ask us when we would be arriving. Then, after we arrived early, he upgraded our room to a far superior one at no further cost. It was a delightful room, spacious, airy, surrounded by lush, well curated gardens with a solar heated swimming pool and a spa(we didn't use them). One step, two step, and you are on the riverfront, with a grassed area and outside furniture. Granted, you've got to have the tide in for the water to be lapping at the end of a kind of jetty/swimming platform, and I did and went for a swim two mornings in a row. At low tide, you can walk a fair old way, possibly into town. Oh,his name is Ken, a most amiable and helpful fellow. Do go...
