Upon arriving we weren't sure what to think, it was dark but we could connect to the power site and had heating in the vanso I was happy. The site had a kitchen that could be used. It was clean but the interior and tables that were there looked outdated. Same goes for the buildings and exterior. It felt like the campsites you would go to in high school or something.||||However, even though the exterior looked a little scrummy, the showers were clean. Only one locked but there weren't other people so I could use that one on both days. Shower pressure was great, and nice hot water. A big plus.||||On the next day, we wanted to use the washing machine but it would not take our coins. Turns out the lady at the front desk misinformed us about the amount money it needed, she was new and thought it needed 2 but turned out it was 4. But while we were at dinner she put in 4 dollars of their own money and turned on the washing machine for us. Very kind of her!||||Because of this and the great showers, I would recommend this place. However, we free WiFi could not connect at our campervan site. The signal was just too low. That was too bad since we had issues with our...
Read moreRoom was clean and warm, after we took out the very dusty filters from the heat pump. The manager wasn’t there when we went to check in and didn’t arrive for another 20 mins, although we were earlier than anticipated so that could have been why. The outside appearance lets this whole property down, from the reception building with its dirty windows to the mixture of old and then slightly newer units, all of which look like cabins from the outside. There is an old worn out playground and a lot of empty space in between blocks of units which could be better utilised. Perhaps a public bbq area? Garden was overgrown out front. Not a good look, hard to correlate the outside to the nice insides of the units. Advertised as kitchens inside but no hob (electric frypan though). Slightly deceiving and should instead be called a kitchenette. All in all a decent stay, wouldn’t recommend any of the takeout places here though. Chinese was awful and Indian took 30 mins to cook one butter chicken then we found a hair in the rice ugh! Both were recommended, better to get food from the New World supermarket handily...
Read moreThere has been new ownership here since May and we were glad we ignored the hot and cold reviews and went to see for ourselves! The new owner was really nice and accommodating and has put a lot of work into the place. We were 3 women who needed somewhere to stay to do the Tongariro Crossing. This was one of our favorite campsites and we stayed 2 nights. It's safe and has security cameras everywhere, has a big kitchen with lots of supplies, good free wifi, really hot/good water pressure showers and we could put up our tent in between the buildings with the kitchen and showers so didn't hear the street noise and had a close walk to everything. If you aren't looking for something super luxurious and are on a budget this is perfect for you because it's a great deal. Ive paid more for way worse facilities and unfriendly staff. Thank you for...
