I wanted to love this place. After a painstaking couple of weeks trying to select a top quality boutique hotel in Lagos for a weekend stay, I decided on Art Hotel, because I loved the concept of a space that included art/culture. First, they still owe me a refund (8 weeks and counting now), after insisting on it, due to the fact that I had to downgrade my room, because the original room I booked (and others similar to the selection) were not acceptable.

ROOM I originally booked the Prince suit but ended up in a Deluxe as I was unable to find a comparable suite that was suitable. CONS:Our first room had penile fluid stains on the bedside dresser, and the hotel as a whole has a water damage/mold/mildew problem. I had to check a few rooms and just settled on one that was manageable. It was tricky to figure out thermostat, light, air conditioner moderations in the room. Furniture and carpets have stains. Door frames don't close well ...light spils into the room so u don't have complete darkness when you're trying to black out. Loud, the generator felt like it was in my room and I could hear every conversation coming from the outside/corridor

PRO: The size of the room felt good, and spacious enough. Bed is comfortable, the closet and bathrooms are nice. Love the live edge wood table in the room.

CUSTOMER SERVICE Check -In/Concierge was okay. The booking process (online) and in-person was relatively straight forward. Except for when I need an overcharge to be reversed, they said ‘they don’t do refunds’.

RESTAURANT/FOOD Breakfast buffet is fine. The selection is comparable to other similar hotels. Outside of that the customer service, and quality of offerings is abhorrent.

The first night we went for dinner, we had to wait over 35 minutes just to get the attention of someone to receive our order and another 1hr + to get overpriced tepid and tasteless food. The restaurant was dirty, with globs of food on the floor and seats.

I ordered a Pina Colada that listed very specific and fresh ingredients, and could not drink it because it tasted disgusting, what they listed was not the drink, it was instead some weird bottled syrup poured in, and the bartender was unwilling to engage. You can't just serve people mystery ingredients. What if someone has reactions?

Waste of money and time.

OVERALL Although I love the concept, and would rather patronize small concept hotels, I'm sad to say that I would not...

We fumigated and needed a place to stay for the weekend, so we decided on Art Hotel. We won't do it again. A relatively new hotel, yet evidence of poor maintenance was everywhere. The elevator didn't work the first night. The room cleaning was very substandard, with clear stains on the sheets, rugs, and even the suite couch. I even caught sight of the mattress cover during housekeeping and almost gagged. I had to lay one of my dresses on the bed and pillow to sleep on. The door lock didn't work the first night, and housekeeping had to show us how to manoeuvre it to get it to lock. Why?! Half of the shower holes in the hand-held shower were blocked, so the water (good pressure) came out with a very stinging and uncomfortable sharpness. Towels were not available after cleaning, and afterwards, provided sparingly. All of this was somewhat bearable, but what really upset us was the attitude of the room service coordinator. He was so rude and impatient. We requested dishes and forks be sent to our room, and 25mins later, when they hadn't been received, called again, only to be rudely and dismissively lectured about how busy they were. Eventually, the plates were sent up after calling the front desk, and, of course, they were dirty, as were the napkins. The rugs in the too-narrow halls were also worn and stained, and actually had that old-carpet smell, as opposed to a new-hotel smell. All in all, it was an unpleasant experience due to the place being prematurely worn down, ill maintained, and worst of all, certain staff being ill trained. The bright spot was the housekeeping coordinator (Bolu? I sadly don't recall). He was very pleasant and helpful, and actually went the extra mile 👏🏽. Oh, and the location, nko? Not ideal. Not enough space in the compound, and manoeuvring out of the exit gate from a certain angle of the park is not for the inexperienced driver; you will scratch your car! 🤦🏽‍♀️ Art Hotel Mgt, if you read these reviews, please don't subject your beautiful hotel, and your customers, to the low standards that this country seems to have imposed on us all. Forget naija factor. Imbibe your own high standards and give your customers an immaculate experience. We've paid the premium, so deliver. And train your staff to understand that every word and action of theirs is also part of the customer experience. They have no right to reduce the quality of a paying...

I was looking forward to my visit, but it fell short of my expectations. The lobby, gallery and restaurant were beautiful; however, the room was lacking.

Room: I stayed in the Duke Superior Room (Superior King) big bright room, but I felt the space wasn't utilised well, as areas of the room felt bare. The finishing’s in the room were poor for example the hedging around the doors and the AC vents in the room. Closet space for the size of the room was limited just one wardrobe with limited storage to arrange clothing. Additionally, certain amenities were missing or unavailable when requested by reception, like dry cleaning it was outsourced as they don't offer the service in-house. Cleanliness - Towels were dirty and even when replaced they all have this yellow tint with white patches so I guess they’ve been over bleached. The bedding was dirty with different marks and the pillows were stained and one even had dried blood stains. I had to call for a turndown service to replace everything. Although the bed was comfortable but the road noise enters the room in the way hours. I was locked out as the bedroom door got jammed. Returning in the early hours the last thing you expect is to be unable to enter your room. Maintenance team took about 25min to fix the issue which resulted in the sensor being reconfigured and reset it.

In-room dining: The menu options are great; however, the few times I ordered, the food wasn't hot, which was disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend the honey-glazed wings.

Customer Service: Staff greet well and are friendly but can be slow in getting back to you over the most basic things. On my last night I called requesting a late checkout with the night receptionist and to kindly leave a note that I would pay the extra fee the next day. To my surprise, I was called at 1130am to remind me that checkout is at noon. I explained that I spoken to her colleague the night before and stated there should be a note on the system to that effect. However no note nor was the system updated. There always seemed to be a breakdown in communication where similar issues arose throughout my stay. I was disappointed with my stay and sadly...
