CAUTION CORRUPT HOTEL! By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I booked my hotel at the official Marriott website using my points. Just three days before I arrived I received an email from Marriott welcoming me to the hotel. However, when I arrived, at check-in, I was informed by the front desk agent (Grace) that Marriott points were not accepted at the hotel, but that they would be willing to offer me a special rate for each night. I had no prior notice, they didn’t notify me by email or any other means, but they refused to accept my reservation that was guaranteed by Marriott. After discussing it with the manager on duty (Ms. Tokunbo), we agreed on a rate, and they agreed to return my points back to my Marriott account. However, they did not accept international credit cards (their machine wasn’t working at the time) so I had to pay for my stay in cash in advanced. This is when I went to my room, and was even further disappointed. The room was extremely small and dark. It says it had a queen size bed, but it was more like an American Full size bed. The bathroom was tiny, and he shower was no more than two feet wide and maybe six feet long… uncomfortable for any full size adult to shower in it. Our room was in the first building, which was right across from the power generation plant, so the sound was very loud. In our one night stay, the power went out several times, and the internet worked intermittently. When I called the front desk about the internet, they said they would fix it but did nothing. The hotel itself doesn’t have many amenities. It has a pool that was alright, and a gym that was dirty and small, and didn’t motivate you to workout. The exercise machines were old and un-kept. They had a bar by the pool, and a bar at the lobby, and a single restaurant. Other than that, the place is completely isolated, and boring. They advertise that their rooms have views to the beach, but there is no access to the beach, and the beach is a camp for the homeless on Victoria Island. After one night stay we decided to check out because the hotel was awful and was not worth the money we were paying. Upon check out they told us that they could NOT REFUND our money untill the end of the month, so we had to leave with a receipt showing that we had a refund due. One day later, my Marriott account was charge with four nights worth of points, in spite the fact that the manager Ms. Tokunbo promised not to charge me, and in spite the fact that we only stayed at the hotel for one night, paid in cash, and with a refund due. I filed a complaint with Marriott about this hotel. Do yourself a favor, stay away from this hotel. There are plenty other hotels in Victoria Island that will be a better deal and will not cheat you.

Protea Marriot is a nicely coded hotel on Victoria Island. Great view of the Atlantic Ocean and the Atlantic City. Very quiet and serene. Rooms are arranged along standalone buildings with about 8-9 rooms on 3 floors. The ambiance is quite okay. Rooms are well laid out with basic amenities. The reception building is nicely arrange with the first floor housing the restaurant. A couple of meeting rooms. A low for me is the narrow approach road, inadequate parking space at full capacity, zero stairs access to the meeting room ( only elevator)

Place is very nice! Room size are descent. Air is good. If you are a fan of washcloths, you want to bring some extras. Staff is very accommodating. Water & food is good here as well. Their driver is moooost helpful! It is oceanside, but no access to the beach from here. From my understanding, there's another entry point that is more secure and is where all the people go to. It's a gated hotel, so that gives you a peace of mind.

We paid for a room (could not even pay with our French international Visa Card as the machine could not read it, surprising for a hotel of the group Protea open to international customers) with Balcony and we were given a room at the ground floor, without day light. When we complaint that this does not correspond to the room feature we paid for on the website, no actions were done on pretext that the hotel was full yet we arrived before the hotel got full. The bathroom was even dirty, when we first enter there was some hair on the white tile floor, the shower had some hair too. The room cleanliness need to be seriously improved, the floor is not cleaned, under the furniture's, the carpet everything is staying dirty even after the cleaning team passes in the morning. In front of our room there was a tray from probable a room service who stayed there on the floor until the end of our stay with dirty plates without attendance this can clearly attract cockroaches. The view was not even nice as it covered by containers; we cannot even see the water. We can go on and on as so many were wrong during our stay. The Christmas period being probably one of the highest month for the hotel in terms of revenue and no attention is paid to the guests experience. That's says a lot about the rest of the year. A discount or an gift on the total cost paid could have calm us but nothing was done or proposed to allow us to close our stay on a better note. We were also planning to enjoy the pool but the pool was not even cleaned, the water was not clear and was smelly. The breakfast was fade with small number of choices : I requested to have bread to eat my eggs as I noticed there was a toaster : I was told the bread was done yet the breakfast time was still on, which service does not have bread for a breakfast? With all those feedbacks that we expressed several times to the personnel both at the reception, breakfast and the maintenance team, nothing was done to accommodate us as if our opinion did not matter. Therefore, we could not enjoy any facilities or the hotel neither the room we paid for according to the website description and pictures. It was our first time in a Protea hotel and we had high expectations knowing the brand by name. Unfortunately, it is without saying that we end up being extremely disappointed. Considering this bad experience during a Christmas season, we will probably not come back to a...
