We booked 3 nights early September, weather in Bergen was great and maybe saving grace for hotel in terms of review as we were out all day.
Pros - location is unbeatable. Aesthetic is great and breakfast generous and varied.
Unfortunately, plenty of teething problems and management was no where to be found (absent, not around, then sick apparently, with no back up?! After asking for him 8 times, I gave up) Thermostat on our shower was broken which meant alternating mid shower between ice cold and scolding hot shower on and off, despite bringing this to the attention of 3 different staff members at reception on several occasions since day of check in we where told maintenance will look at it every day, this “someone” appeared to be fictional and on our final night at 18:00 we where told no one can look at it and only solution would be another room. Clearly inconvenient on last night.
We asked for late check out and they noted that we can’t as the room will have new guests (despite broken shower and no one being able to fix it until supposedly after the weekend being 2 days after our checkout).
Housekeeping was extremely poor, room felt dusty and unkempt every evening, sink was never cleaned and common hallways always littered. No attention for detail.
They falsely advertises a gym, but that was in a sister hotel not on site.
Staff was not knowledgable of Bergen or even what facilities where on site or at sister hotel. They gave impression that they just arrived in Bergen.
Izakaya restaurants food was very good, but menu was apparently not accurate on what is gluten free or not. Celiacs be very careful!
They gave us room 519, a disabled layout room, which was really not suitable for our needs (two big guys) as everything was very low. They could not clarify why this was assigned to us!
I would not classify this as 5 star, more a 3 star. In my opinion better alternatives in Bergen at much better...

Prior to our arrival, we called the hotel to inquire about parking options and were told that no parking at the hotel is possible and that we could park in a garage 15 minutes away and receive a 15% discount on the parking fees. However, upon arrival, after walking 15 minutes with all our luggage, we were informed that parking was available directly at the hotel and that no discount would be provided for the other parking garage.
During check-in, the Head of Reception assured us that breakfast was available until 11:00 AM. When asked about our preferred time, we mentioned we would come between 10:00 and 11:00 AM. On the second day, we arrived for breakfast at 10:30 AM, only to be told that breakfast on weekdays ended at 10:00 AM, and we were no longer able to eat. This information was never communicated to us, nor was it displayed anywhere. Despite food still being available on the tables, we were not allowed to take any. Unfortunately, the manager of the breakfast restaurant was neither customer-focused nor hospitable, and no alternative solution was offered.
After some back-and-forth, the receptionist, who was on her first day, contacted her supervisor. After 15 minutes, we were offered a meager refund of 140 NOK for the missed breakfast. We were extremely frustrated, as this not only forced us to find a place for breakfast last minute but also disrupted our schedule for the day and delayed our check-out.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. Better communication and a more customer-oriented approach could have significantly...
Read moreThis is the place to be staying in Bergen!! Discreetly next to Domkriken, away from hustle, on 3min walk to harbor. From the moment, I got in contact with Cata at FD, it was such a pleasure and reassuring, after an emergency with my VVIP clients the night before. The hotel is brand new and what a splendid eye to details and design that will awaits you. Love the mix of Scandinavia and Japanese, influence and style, which is a excellent match! Even a flower shops at the entrance that make it's so zen and fragrance coming in and being welcomed by extremely helpful and service minded professionals in the reception. It not so easy to make sure that all is in order, as its brand new, it takes time to get your legs, but always with smile! Rooms as so cosy, well thought out, 3 set of level for lightning, superb bed. Great shower, with amenities from RÅ, that smells so good and with good quality towels!!! Last but not least, the amazing Breakfast that took me by surprise. The spread, variety so fresh and quality make it for sure the best buffet style breakfast, I have every seen!! This is what Norway is known for and let the world known, it's a new Breakfast Sheriff in town!!! Truly, truly memorable experience and so grateful for discovering...
