Wow, I’m in disbelief at how horrible the customer service is here. We saw on their menu that the spicy items all mentioned spicy in the description, and had red dots to determine the level of spiciness. Since I was with two kids, I intentionally picked the soybean paste tofu soup that was NOT spicy. When it came, the soup was a red color which looked quite spicy and when we tasted it, the level of spiciness was so intense we had to chug down 2 glasses of water right away. We told our server about it, and he was very defensive to tell us that’s the way the soup is made. I told him there was no indication at all on the menu and we are not able to tolerate this level of spiciness. He sent another server over only to tell us again that this is how the soup is normally made. After that, the manager came over and again defended their position. She kept trying to convince us it was not spicy. It was ludicrous that she would not acknowledge what we were trying to tell her, that it was TOO SPICY. Then, she just took the soup away. We waited a bit, unsure if they were going to return with a non-spicy version but they just ignored us. So finally we asked for the check, and they had the nerve to CHRAGE us for something we didn’t even eat! They were the ones to remove the soup from our table! Had I known they would charge I’d have at least packed it home and try to water it down to eat the next day, since that sad little bowl of soup costed like 260 Kronas!
They clearly do not care about their customers at all. The rest of the food that we ate (the Korean BBQ) was mediocre at best, and way overpriced for its quality. Very very disappointing experience and will be telling our friends and family to avoid this place for sure.
To the owners/managers at Kogi—you are SO short sighted in your business, and you lost way more than just one customer because of that one bowl of tofu soup you insist on charging me. Yes, the one that we did not...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant on October 7th and we loved the atmosphere and the food. The staff did the BBQ for you and it was very delicious. Some of the staff were really friendly and some look like they got up on the wrong side of the bed. In general, we enjoyed the experience at Kogi. Unfortunately, there was a incident happen. After we paid at the table, the waiter chased us out and said the transaction did not go through so we have to pay again. This is when all the trouble started. When we went home the next week, we found out that we were being double charged so we contacted the restaurant manager. He was friendly and tried to help us solve the problem. But he only saw one transaction on his end. My husband and I contacted our bank the next day and the Sparebank confirmed that we were being charged twice. So this is really a mystery in here. As the bank suggested, I wrote an email to the restaurant but have not recieved any reply from them until now. After the visit of Kogi, I have to spend hours to deal with the double charge issue. This is why I gave it 3 stars even though I love the food they serve.
Post Script: Kogi contacted me, apologized for the inconvenience I experienced, and explained that there was an issue with the bank terminal. They Vippsed me back the double charge amount today. I changed the rating to 5 stars because I feel that they sincerely want to resolve issues for their...
Read moreWow! As somebody that has been to Korean bbq all over the world this place was so horribly disappointing and that's putting it kindly. Bergen food culture is in its infancy and that's the only reason a place like this could exist or survive let alone be packed. This place would not make it a week anywhere else in the world. The food was soooooooo overpriced for what you actually get. I would say its priced tripple of what it should be. We are pescatarians and found the options bismal at best. No seafood options unless you count some frozen chunks of fish cake that's thrown barely edible dish. I have no clue why we had to order the vegetarian options 24 hours in advance when there was absolutely nothing special about the dish. The server said it would be better if they prepared the veggie dish in the back better than the grill and when it came out it was noodles which can't be grilled anyway. Basically you can order 24 hours in advance and still have nothing to grill. Looks like they had forgotten to prepare the dish and just made up some crappie option as a substitute and lied to us about it. Eventually somebody will open up a REAL Korean bbq place with a real menu options besides meat in Bergen and this insanely overpriced place and be flushed down the toilet where it...
