Stayed here for 5 nights on vacation, in a country I was really looking forward to visiting again. Disappointing stay to say the least. When I arrived I was given a room on the 7th floor, no a/c working in my room. Bear in mind temps were at 40 degrees C outside, the heat was oppressive. I called to reception and they sent Maintenance up. He fiddled with control panel and said give it time and left. I did, gave it 2 hours, went out for lunch. I returned, no change. I went down to reception and they changed me into room beside original one, and again ac not working here either. I went down again to reception and asked for room on lower floor. Got a room on 4th floor and thankfully ac was working here. Room in general was ok. Shower leaks badly all over tiled floor when used. I used many towels to mop water up during my stay. In my 5 days here, no room service/cleaning attended which didn't bother me but I thought strange. So I had to search for staff when I needed towels or toilet paper. Facilities here such as gym and pool are pathetic. The gym is a room on top floor with 2 bikes and 2 treadmills, I didn't use, I thought it was abandoned. Pool on top of hotel, I didn't use and I wasn't inclined to use. I had the breakfast on one morning, the last morning of my stay and it wasn't too bad, scrambled egg, sausages, beans, veg, breads, juice, cereal available, for a price of 3 Rial. Only Positive thing about room was the bed was extremely comfortable. Staff in reception were only mildly interested in dealing with my queries, they did however arrange a taxi for me to the airport which arrived within minutes. One important thing to note - the WiFi is extremely poor here, signal very weak, especially on 4th floor. The setup is weird, every floor has a different wifi code and some rooms then also have a different code, I couldn't understand why. Overall I would be hesitant to recommend this hotel, especially for tourists as they deliberately put you on 7th floor with no ac. My impression is the owners are running this hotel on the tightest of budgets, no...
Read moreOur recent stay at Muscat Plaza Hotel had its ups and downs. Let's start with the positives: the family room we stayed in was spacious and comfortably accommodated our group of four, which was a definite plus. Additionally, the hotel's location proved convenient, with close proximity to fast food chains and grocery supermarkets. However, there were several drawbacks that impacted our overall experience. Firstly, the lack of air conditioning in the hallways made navigating through the hotel uncomfortable, especially during the hotter parts of the day. The breakfast lacked variety, remaining largely unchanged day to day, which became monotonous. Moreover, many of the electrical outlets in our room were non-functional, forcing us to use alternate beds to charge our devices. Furthermore, the bathroom amenities were subpar; notably, there was no soap holder in the shower. The policy of providing only one towel per guest and requiring us to exchange used towels was inconvenient and felt outdated. The outdated decor and absence of bedside lamps in our room contributed to a somewhat old-fashioned ambiance. Additionally, the carpets appeared unclean, emitting a musty odor upon entering both the hallway and our room, suggesting a need for thorough cleaning or renovation. In conclusion, while Muscat Plaza Hotel offers a spacious family room and a convenient location near dining and shopping options, the overall experience was marred by maintenance issues, limited amenities, and outdated facilities. Addressing these concerns could significantly enhance the comfort and satisfaction of...
Read moreUnfortunately, the hotel needs to do a lot to stay in the competitive hospitality market. There are serious problems, from the check-in and staff coordination to the basic condition of the room.
I arrived in the evening and had the check-in, which went on ok. As I went up to my room, I saw that the door was wide open and two workers were cleaning it. They mentioned that this room is not ready. I had to run back to the reception, and the receptionists seemed not to be bothered with their lack of coordination in this simple matter. I was given room 409. Upon entry, I saw a door to the left, which was locked, and later realised that this door leads to the next room. You literally have no privacy in this room. Whatever happens in the next room, you hear it; from the simple conversation between the people to the intimate moments that couple have are all clearly geared in your room. If you need to rest but the people in the next room want to giggle and talk loudly, there is nothing you can do about it. The room itself was just OK, with all the basic needs. Also consider that the neighbourhood is very crowded and you may have a hard time finding a parking, and for some unknown reason, the basement parking of the hotel is inaccessible. Overall, I had an uncomfortable stay and would not recommend it if you need...
