Casa de Abuela raises the bar for customer service in Boquete. Having left a “so-called” bed and breakfast nearby, I found the staff to be kind and genuinely interested in the comfort of their customers. Rooms are simple, clean and have beautiful mountain views. You really don’t need air conditioning. However, you can request an air conditioned room if you need one. The morning breakfast is well prepared and includes fresh fruit, fresh eggs and the very best coffee. They go out of their way to provide to meet the needs of their guests. On my first day I asked them if they knew a place close by where I could get a late afternoon cup of coffee. They immediately provided some excellent suggestions. Then, to my amazement they kindly offered to go in the kitchen make me a cup of coffee! Who does that? ||Casa Abuela is a family owned hotel that treats you like family. I will gladly return on my next...
Read moreFamily run small hotel which is clean and comfortable a short walk away from the few shops and restaurants in town. Staff were pleasant and helpful and refilled water bottles for us.||We had room 5 which had two double beds in it resulting in it feeling rather cramped. We were also situated on the side of main road through town, there is a little road noise at night but it didn't really disturb us.||Not much outside space to sit around outside, there were small benches but nothing else. ||Meals, including breakfast, were taken outside of the hotel a few yards up the road at Lounge 23. Not sure if this was connected to the hotel or if they didn't offer food. It was cooked to order from limited menu but...
Read moreBasic rooms and disinterested staff. Upon checking in we were just handed the key, told what time breakfast was and were sent on our way, no offer of an explanation about the local area, things to do etc. Also nobody came to make up our room while we were out for the day. Our room (14) was a funny shape due to being on an angle which meant it had less usable space than other rooms so would avoid this one if you can. Toilet also didn’t work properly as water kept draining in to the bowl instead of filling up the tank. Breakfast was basic and they use disposable plastic cutlery which just seems like an unnecessary waste. Convenient location to walk into town however, on balance would stay somewhere...
