*UPDATE Since I first reviewed this wonderful restaurant, there are changes. The first and most important one is they are now open for lunch. YAY!! So now I go at least once a week. And they are going to have a new menu coming which I am VERY excited about. The food here is AMAZING. Seriously. I have some new mouthwatering pics for you to drool over. Cheers! See you on Tuesday!
Right from opening the door, I knew this was going to be a great evening. Our waiter, Yader, was there to greet us. He asked us our names and gave us his name. And he continued to use them throughout the evening. We picked a nice table for three inside the restaurant. There are quite a few tables outside that were well occupied by the time we left. We were served waters while we looked at the menu. We had all independently had looked at the menu online so we kinda knew what we wanted. We began with the spicy shrimp and spring rolls. The shrimp came heaping in a bowl. There was lots of shrimp to share and it was excellent. The spice wasn't overpowering but just enough. The spring rolls were crunchy and full of goodness. They had a nice pineapple sauce on top of them. It was so delish. I also ordered a miso soup. And my friend ordered the creamy Thai soup and I got a taste. It was very good and I would order it in the future. However, I had been thinking about the miso soup for a while so I was happy with my choice. Then came our rolls. My friends chose the Brie Plantain roll and the Alaskan Special roll. They each found their roll to be very much to their liking. I ordered the Torogana San roll. And I must say this roll was THE BEST SUSHI ROLL I HAVE EVER HAD!! And I have had sushi all over the world. (not Japan YET) It was crunchy and filled with flavour. It also had some tempura shrimp on top. WOW! Flavour overload. It was so good. One thing I was pleased with was our choices of soya sauce - regular or less salt. It was a nice touch. As was the wasabi and pickled ginger. Both are needed for the full sushi taste. Slavko, the owner, stopped by and chit chatted with us telling us his plans for the future. It sounded awesome. We are excited about his plans and future menu items. Although, I will most likely stick with the Torogana San roll. We enjoyed our chat with him. And we did love the incredible service we got from Yader. He was very attentive and gracious. We all felt his service was above and beyond. It was an incredible meal. I must admit I am already thinking I should go again tonight. It was truly the best meal I have had in Boquete since I came here 10 months ago. The only unfortunate thing is they are NOT open for lunch. Sigh. Hopefully Slavko will think about it...
Read moreDinner at Bluefin tonight was a gastronomic joy. It is such a pleasure to have a Japanese restaurant in Boquete and the food is world class. The staff is delightful and attentive and you will return over and over again for the food. The restaurant itself is stunning in a traditional Japanese way while the food is varried and every dish is more delicious than the previous. Bluefin has out done itself and we are thrilled that it is here in Boquete. 2nd review.... Since it opened, BlueFin has been one of our favorite restaurants in Boquete. The chef is now introducing a lot of new menu items and BlueFin has become our favoriter ( I know that’s not a word ). The chef obviously loves what he does because he does it so well. Don’t tell anyone, but if you have a special request, the chef will gladly whip it up for you. Everything we tasted exceeded expectations – but if you have never had Black Cod – now is the time to try it. It’s similar to Chilean Sea Bass and simply melts in your mouth. The blue fin tuna is exceptional and the variety of offerings is unmatched in fine dining spots in our small community. The servings are large enough for lunch yet small enough for you to try several dishes for lunch or dinner. There are lots of cooked items on the menu so there is something for everyone….and try a Lychee...
Read moreMy wife Lisa and I thoroughly enjoyed our date night at Blue FIn on July 25th. So many exemplary features about this lovely place. Ample parking was a highlight as we arrived, the decor of the facility was clean, fresh and welcoming, the staff, friendly, incredibly attentive and welcoming and wow, they all looked so sharp in their uniforms. Special shout out to Gina, who as our server did a simply remarkable job with a cheerful and bright disposition too. The food, blew me away, we split a shrimp tempura appetizer, which was "so good" I ordered a second one "to go" at the end of the meal, and thoroughly enjoyed today. I had the chicken teriyaki meal and Lisa the salmon teriyaki, both cooked to perfection. Truly a classy establishment, we'll definitely be back to enjoy its ambience and the overall experience again - very impressed, highly...
