El Arepázo Boquete — Restaurant in Bajo Boquete

Fantastic restaurant serving Medellín style arepas, hot dogs and burgers in a converted school bus. Can get food to take away or eat in - very clean tables outside with a nice cover if you want to eat in! I have to say, it’s one of the best meals I’ve had in Panama for only $6 - cost of one arepa which is super filling. Ask for the DELICIOUS hot salsa made from scotch bonnet chilis, which actually isn’t too spicy when eaten with the creamy arepas white sauce. Note - I took the photo after taking big bites of the filling (they are super generous with the filling!).

I had a great conversation with the owner (Weston) who talked to me about how he set up the place and plans for expansion - sad I am leaving Boquete tomorrow otherwise I would have come back again, but I hope to be back when they have set up a bar, and provisions for lunch...

My first encounter with this cuisine was absolutely amazing. First the owner, West, goes out of his way to personally deliver each order and guarantee a fabulous consistent cuisine and product. His son has the kitchen under control and very efficiently keeps the orders flowing. Fresh and hot I am now a two Arepas man. I fully recommend this as the best affordable food in boquete. My wife and I were traveling around Western Panama. We came across a brightly painted bus conversion. At first we hesitated but then noticed all of the stainless counters and fixtures. Every food prep areas were very clean Then we ordered some of their Colombian entrees! Spectacular food ! We travel around and we stayed a couple more days, so that we could try every item.
