This is what you'd expect for what you pay. It is very loud. However, there were two main issues. One, the lights don't turn off all the way. They go into night mode or something, but you can see your whole room (see photos). And it's not temporary - they stay like that all night. Two, the showering experience was not satisfactory. I turn the shower on according to instructions, but only a trickle of freezing cold water comes out (see video). I go down to reception in a towel. The lady gets on the phone with the host and follows me upstairs. They talk and she feels the water, and after ten minutes, she says it's hot. She leaves. It's still freezing cold. I go tell her again that it's cold and barely coming out. She again contacts the hosts and they talk for another twenty minutes. Finally, there's hot water, but again it's only a trickle. Certainly not enough to wash my hair. I highly value darkness and hot showers, so I checked into a different place the next day.

I have been to Cusco twice and I always go back to Qolmay because it is affordable ($16 CAD/night for a single bed), clean, centrally located to all amenities, and Nariza and the staff provide AMAZING service! This was the first hostel I went to during my travels in Peru and it definitely set my standards high. I used to work as a housekeeper, so I know all the places to look for when inspecting a room's cleanliness. The single bed room I stayed in was very clean! The sheets smelled freshly laundered and the washroom was very clean with no signs of debris. The decorations are also very charming! Also, it is very close to San Pedro which is the best for breakfast. Nariza is the best host, she is super friendly and accommodating to all reasonable requests. I will continue to stay here for when I go back to Cusco again!

I was staying on ground floor, so much noise from outside, the phone kept ringing and people walking past. This hostel also not far from San Pedro station so you could hear trains coming and going. The bathroom on ground floor has unpleasant smells from sewerage. However the hot water was great for shower.

Very nice, clean hotel. Good location near the historic centre. The staff is very kind. Plus, there’s hot water in the shower, which is great. It’s more convenient for the hostel to pay in cash.

If you want to use the laundry service, make sure to take into account an extra day for drying: they agreed they’d have enough time to wash and dry before our check-out. Unfortunately there wasnt much sun so our laundry wasnt dry yet when we got it back. It was all clean, but a little inconvenient since we had a day of travel, so no opportunity to let it...
