The Museo de Arte Popular in Cusco is a wonderful place to experience the rich artistic traditions of Peru. The museum is located just steps away from the Plaza de Armas, making it easy to find for anyone exploring the historic center. The collection features a wide variety of folk art, including colorful masks, traditional sculptures, and intricate crafts that truly showcase the creativity and skill of local artists. The exhibits are both vibrant and informative, offering insight into the cultural heritage of the region. Staff members are welcoming and happy to answer questions, adding a personal touch to the visit. While the museum is not very large, it provides a relaxing and inspiring break from the busy streets outside. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Peruvian...

Included in the Bileto Turistico. To call this a museum is a stretch. It's three rooms, one with a video exhibit in Spanish only, one with some historical black-and-white photos of Cusco, and one room packed with ugly display cases filled with random objects, dolls, and figurines. Seems to me it's a few spare rooms in the basement of the municipal building, where employees have been asked to bring random objects from their attic which they don't want to keep.

Information boards (pictured) indicate this museum started as the "American Institute of Art of Cusco", which is remarkable as there is no English explanation whatsoever.

If I would have paid for entry here, beside the Bileto Turistico (which I got for other purposes), I would be...

This museum ticket entry was with the sacsaywaman . Visit very easy to get an entry. Because it is in a government building on in the basement. There is a person open just the complimentary ticket. There are 3 halls. The first hall has a lot of cupboards with all the are small small artefacts. And the ceramix of different type of toys arts which are displayed but they are crammed. I have attach some photos in the second hall. Basically. It is the ruler James shown with the horse and also a big sculpture of the man displayed in the last room. There is a lot. Total theatrical representation of all the inc.and/or the historic remains of different regimes if you have time visit. But it is not a...

A charming little museum showcasing beautiful Peruvian folk art—perfect for a quick cultural stop! The exhibits include colorful textiles, pottery, masks, and other traditional crafts that highlight the creativity of local artisans. The staff were welcoming and happy to chat about the pieces. I spent about an hour there and really enjoyed learning more about Peru’s rich artistic traditions. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in town!

Infos/Tips: - Included in the Boleto del Turismo de Cusco. - Not focused on the Incas or Cusco, but on Peru in general. - Takes around 15 minutes to do the tour of it - There is a one hour documentary on the different Inca sites if you are interested. - Popular art is an integral part of Peru’s cultural heritage. The museum aims to preserve, promote, and celebrate the traditional arts and crafts of Peru’s diverse regions
