The hotel is in a great location and the hotel staff really tries to do a good job in making you comfortable. A few issues. 1) the room where I stayed had a moldy smell and it caused some issues with my allergies. 2) sometimes during the day there is a an odd sewer kind of smell that comes through the ventilation system that is not good. 3) the windows are not insulated that well and the street noise from Benavides, which is a very busy road with tons of constantly honking cars is loud, so if you are a light sleeper it can be annoying.
The good is that the location is convenient in Miraflores, the Internet for the most part works well and the rooms are spacious and clean for the most part. The staff, especially the reception people are all very helpful.
My one big issue on this stay is that breakfast is no longer included in your stay if you are a Platinum Elite IHG member. I felt a bit deceived as I had the breakfast, which is below par for a large hotel and the service is not that great and then was presented with a bill for $60 soles or $20 USD. They recently changed this rule but if breakfast is not included in your room rate, and you are a Platinum member then you will have to pay $20 for breakfast. Again, I don't mind paying for breakfast if I am aware that it is going to cost $20 and if it was better with adequate service. For business travelers this is a huge annoyance and so I will probably stay somewhere else for my visits to Lima.
Other things are that the gym is really, really small and not equipped well with a few treadmills and some really light dumbbells. The pools is also tiny and more like a hot tub. The good news is that there is a Gold's gym across the street that you can use for $30 soles or $10 USD.
Anyway, the room smell, the noise, the lack of a good gym and the bad changes on breakfast would make me recommend somewhere else. If you think about it, it will add $30 a night to your room bill that business travelers would not normally have to cover. The good is the staff is very nice, the location is good, the rooms are spacious and the Internet...
Read moreNice hotel. Not 5 star based on American standards, but still a nice clean place ( normal for every country south of the USA). All staff are excellent - friendly and attentive. Rooms are good size. Clean, firm mattress - I liked it, but not good if you like soft. Pillows were firm too. Good quality linens. Decent quality towels - not as nice as you would expect for a 5 star. Not much of a view. 50" tv - mostly Spanish speaking. Good lighting. Both North American and European outlets. walk in shower with pumps of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. In room safe. Only 2 small small drawers. Mini fridge, iron., coffee maker. Desk and a small table. Wifi worked well. Elevator service was always good. Breakfast was excellent- eggs, potato, sausage, veggies, various breads, 4 fruits - papaya, watermelon with seeds, cantaloupe and pineapple. 3 cereals - grains, granola, corn flakes. have lactose free milk. Cold cuts, olives, apples, banana. Desserts were only ok. Best staff in Julio. Opens at 630. Was never busy when I was there. Lots of staff on hand. Location is great - walk all over Miraflores - less than 5 min to Parque Kennedy, 13 min walk to cliff by Pacific, minutes to a couple big dept stores (Ripley's had good sales), lots of pharmacies close by, dollar store across street, lots of restaurants near by, grocery stores close by. Not on a main Street, which is good as there is constant honking on main streets. Very clean hotel. Highly recommended.
Stayed again on the way home. Give me a room with a tub. Julio and Johnny were great at breakfast. Easy to see why it was voted best business hotel in Lima. Always...
Read moreI arrived at the Lima airport after midnight, and it was almost 2am by the time I arrived at the hotel. The front desk had the check-in paperwork ready, and they have also prepared a welcome letter that detailed the benefits and perks that I would be receiving as a Platinum IHG Club member (including a welcome pisco sour drink, complimentary buffet breakfast, and an order of complimentary snack and complimentary glass of wine at the bar). The check-in process was quick and efficient, and the front desk staff was courteous and very professional.
The room was spacious (furnishing was a bit sparse, but that was fine for me), and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Excellent shower, and the bathroom was nicely designed and well-appointed.
Breakfast was excellent, food selection was good, and the service from the wait-staff was smooth and attentive.
The service at the bar was equally excellent and attentive, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food on the complimentary snack plate.
The hotel's location in Miraflores is very convenient, and the serene atmosphere of the lobby and the bar provides a peaceful haven from the hustle bustle of the noisy streets outside.
Check-out was quick and efficient. My compliments to the management and the staff for such excellent understated service - it was very evident that the entire hotel staff (from front desk to restaurant to bar to housekeeping) all understood the spirit of hospitality that is the foundation of a very well-run hotel. I used points for this stay, but I would very gladly return as a paying guest to this hotel the next time I am in Lima. Really enjoyed my stay...
