I came back here after like what 10 years, my dad used to bring me here when I was a kid, remembering my vacations coming to Peru when I was a child, and my dad used to have very fond memories about this place, it's just like a throwback to the 80s or 90s in Peruvian society, but like those bitter member berries, it has not catch up to the modern days, it's not what it used to be back in the days, fancy good food good drinks nothing at all, I don't come that often to Peru anymore, and I tell you the service of this place is horrible, I remember me when I was a child, all the servers do my dad's preference and what he liked and his favorite table, my dad wants to come back here because he misses the good old memories, for me it's just a place that shouldn't be there anymore, or at least modernize a little bit, but then again this place still living in the past and still having the same feeling as 40 to 50 years ago, am I just going to tell you something, I love the 80s, I drive 80s cars, I dressed almost like the 80s in my musics, most American Japanese, honk Kong City pop music, but one thing is at least trying to keep that 80 feeling alive, make it look like new, keep up with the newer let's say synthawave style, having a great service, worst part is that I took very well I always tip at least 20% of my total check, sometimes even more, when I was young my dad used to take very well to this guys, but anyways, personally I wouldn't come back, but for my dad anything. So if you're looking for the nostalgia to bring your father back, fantastic, but if you're a new guy that's never been raised in Peru or doesn't have no idea what is this place, he's just going to be wasting a lot of money for...
Read moreGets an extra star because the churro was good but the service and atmosphere was just utter chaos.
I was approached whilst already in the queue by a waiter who spoke incredibly fast in Spanish to me. Although my own Spanish needs improving I usually have no trouble understanding it, but not in this case. I specifically said 3 churros many times in perfect Spanish to him but instead he started asking me all kinds of other confusing questions and in the end I only got 1 churro but was probably charged for more, I have no idea as he never told me the price.
I then tried to sit down at a free table but another waiter rudely waved a finger in my face and sent me on my way. I understand that there are still social distancing rules in place in Peru, but every other table was taken and the restaurant was absolutely packed. Why was only this one table designated unsafe whilst every other one was fine? Ridiculous. I was then handed my order in a paper bag and told to leave even though I never asked for my order to be takeaway. I got back to my hostel to find that the chocolate had leaked everywhere and I only had one measly churro.
I don’t normally leave reviews, but this place was highly recommended. I say...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at Bakery Manolo. First, the American coffee was overpriced and absolutely undrinkable — it tasted awful, and when I asked the waiter if I could change it or simply add more water, they refused to help. At the same price, I would much rather get a Starbucks coffee, which is far better quality. Second, my girlfriend ordered the churros with chocolate, and it was nothing special. The churros were plain, and the chocolate tasted like cheap corn syrup — very basic, nothing that justifies the reputation or the price. We paid a total of 50 soles, which is extremely expensive for what we received. On top of that, the staff seemed only focused on rushing the bill. They didn’t care at all about customer satisfaction, only about serving quickly because of the crowd. Overall, the place is overpriced, low quality, and has poor customer service. I do not recommend it — there are far better...
