Not what you expect from a 4* hotel. We went to Peru for 2,5 weeks and booked this hotel for the last 2 nights before going home. We wanted something nice to enjoy and relax after two busy weeks traveling around Peru. Never in all this weeks in Peru (and South America in general) were we welcomed so unfriendly. We usually stayed in 3* hotels in Peru and everyone there was so much more friendly. The staff speaks a bit of English but not much really (English is my second language too so I know it’s not easy). But being rude and unfriendly is just not ok. We arrived in the evening (after a few days in the Amazon) and no welcome at all (only asked for our passports and credit card to pay for the room). Not much information about breakfast etc. - just gave us a sheet with all the information. The room was big and clean. Also the bathroom. Nothing to complain about. The next day we went out sightseeing and came back at around 4 pm. When we arrived at our room the door was open with cleaning stuff in front of the door. So we assumed our room just gets cleaned. We waited a few minutes and decided to go inside to grab some stuff. No one was inside. I don’t know where the cleaning lady was but not in our room but with our door wide open (our room was right next to the elevator). We went to reception to tell them but she didn’t really understand us (didn’t want to?) and didn’t really care. She told us we must have forgotten to close the door when we left. We told here once more that the cleaning staff was there (because of all the cleaning stuff in front of the door and the room was also partly cleaned e. g. beds were made) but not finished yet. But we couldn’t see anyone. She told us that they will check the security cameras (Never got told if they were ok though). We checked our stuff and we think nothing got stolen. We asked for a late check out which they agreed to until 2 pm (which is nice). As our flight was not leaving before 11 pm we wanted to know how much would it be to stay until 7 pm. It was 70 USD (a night was 95 USD including breakfast for 2 people) so we declined and only wanted the “normal” late check out. After we told them they spoke in Spanish and laughed. The day of leaving arrived and we got a phone call at 1 pm why we didn’t check out yet. We told them that we arranged the late check out at 2 pm (which was fine then). At check out we had to pay for our room service (dinner first night) but they forgot the minibar because the cleaning staff didn’t take the coke bottles with them the day before (and also didn’t stock the minibar) so they didn’t know. They advertise paying with Amex but it didn’t work (obviously it was our fault but it worked everywhere else in Peru… Paying with Visa and Mastercard worked though). If you wanna have a nice hotel in Lima go...
Read moreGreat location. Gate 1 tour puts us up at this hotel. This place could get a better rating then 1 star if it weren't for a few bad apples. Most staff members are very nice and respectful except for one girl at service desk who wore oversize glasses. She completely ignored me and served the guy behind me who spoke Spanish. When I demanded to ask my questions first, she just looked at me angrily then grudgingly answered my questions. After checking out, we left our luggage for safe keeping so we could go shopping before our flight back to the US. Upon returning to the hotel and collecting our luggage, I noticed the bag that holds my CPAP (breathing) machine was opened. I asked the same girl and her male partner if they knew if anyone had went through my luggage. Of course they denied. The CPAP bag looks like a laptop bag so I wonder if who ever opened my bag was looking for a laptop? I told them travelers should be able to trust hotels to keep their belonging safe. Room: Comfortable bed and pillows. But the walls are very thin and very noisy - you could hear people in the adjacent rooms and foot steps from above. Bathroom fan does not work and is opened to the out side. So you could hear street noise and honking at 5 AM. Suggest to bring ear plugs if you want a good night sleep. Breakfast: The worst I have seen. On the first day, not much food left after big groups went ahead of us. No eggs. No coffee. No staff to ask for more. Later I saw a female staff went around and scraped what was left and put on a plate. She used her hand to grab the piece of bread that I put in the rolling oven and gestured me to take it! Then she disappeared with the plate of food. After 4-days Machu Picchu, we came back to the hotel and found a huge improvement in food quality and service. Like a completely different hotel. Very inconsistent. Location: Convenient. Nearby there is a grocery store (good local fruits) and other fast food restaurants. A short walk from the hotel around the block, you can find more restaurants across from Kennedy park. Great sandwiches and juices at La Lucha Sandguches Criollos. 11 min walk to India, Inca markets and +5 min for Huaca Pucllana archeological site (ticket for...
Read moreOverall we enjoyed our stay at Jose Antonio Deluxe. Somethings we liked:||1. The room and bathroom are big and clean. The bed was comfortable. Our room has the big jet spa tub (not all rooms had this). They gave us room slippers, water, lotion, and has laundry service if needed.||2. The location is closed to shopping centers and restaurants. ||3. The staff was nice and accomodating. When we arrived they asked our departure back to our country and asked if we need a drop off service to the airport for $20, if we want a box breakfast to go since our flight is at 6.30am, and if we need a wake up service so we don't miss our flight. ||4. The breakfast was.....AMAZING. It's none of those boring usual continental breakfast you get everywhere else. We had beef fried rice, chicken teriyaki wings, and many other options on top of the usual bread, eggs, cereal, etc. The coffee was the best coffee I had in Peru in the past 7 days we've been here. It's nice to have hot milk with my hot coffee. ||Somethings that could be improved:||1. The pool is much smaller than the pic and shallow. It feels like it's just there for the view. ||2. The rooms in the pictures looks like a newer model with full glass window instead of partial. However, we got a |room without the full glass window. It'll be great if they disclose this in the booking page instead of highlighting the nicer looking room. Also, we booked one that says has a city view. However, we see just another building infront of us. So it doesn't really matter if it has a view or not it doesn't seem like you will get much of a view unless you're on the top floor.||3. It'll be great if laundry service has the option by the weight instead of having to check off each items. We didn't want to go through all our ditry laundry to count/check off one by one.||4. This is not necessary but it'd be nice if they give a robe for us to use...
