Hotel Maria Luisa — Hotel in Lima Metropolitan Area

Staying here was the worst choice we could have made. Would not stay here again.

While Wendy, Grisel, and a young gentleman were incredibly kind and patient, the hotel and administration running it don’t care for their guests or experience.

When we arrived we immediately noticed our room was basically at arm’s reach of another room, making it easy for anyone to sneak in. The bathroom window even had dust and fingerprints, which was odd.

However, the real issue was at night. We turned on a reading light by the bed and it never turned back off again. The staff members tried to help us, I tried to tape buttons down with their help, but ultimately they asked us to change rooms because they couldn’t turn off the light.

At this point our one year old was cranky, crying (way past his bedtime), and we were all sweating because there is 0 AC.

We were offered a different room in our floor which was smaller and had to re-pack to be able to do this. I thought that given the terrible night (and uncomfortable stay where my baby woke up several times from being so hot) we would be offered some type of discount or literally anything, but apparently the admin (Mercedes) did not approve it and they simply shrugged their shoulders at everything. For 250 soles you can get a big air b n b in the same area.

All to say… if you want a positive experience, do...

Este es mi hotel de siempre para cuando viajo a Lima,la ubicación es excelente y tienes TODO cerca: restaurantes, tiendas, farmacias, supermercados, un cine, el gran Parque Central de Miraflores y sus anexos (entre ellos el parque Kennedy con sus gatitos), literalmente DE TODO. Caminando llegas a Larcomar, está a varias cuadras pero no es necesario tomar transporte público ni taxis.||||Las habitaciones son sencillas y a la vez elegantes, algunas tienen más espacio que otras pero siempre pueden pedir un cambio de habitación por motivos de espacio (el personal de recepción les dirá si hay otras disponibles del mismo tipo). Los televisores de las habitaciones dobles son LCD no tan modernos pero suficientes para el uso que se les da; en las matrimoniales, por el contrario, aún se usan televisores pequeños de tubo que tarde o temprano tendrán que ser reemplazados. Todas las habitaciones incluyen ventilador (nunca lo usé pues siempre me hospedé en invierno), una mesa con una o dos sillas (que necesitan urgentemente un retapizado porque se ven rotas) y una mesa de poca altura adicional para colocar cualquier cosa. Los baños son pulcros y limpios, y más modernos que las mismas habitaciones; traten de no dejar a la vista shampoo y jabón propio porque a veces los empleados de limpieza aprovechan eso para no dejar los jabones y sachets que están incluidos en el precio de la habitación. En algunas habitaciones terminadas en 1 (matrimoniales con vista a calle), al lavabo le falta una pieza cerámica y se ve feo. Todas las duchas tienen agua caliente y es fácilmente graduable, aunque hay que adivinar cuál es la llave fría y cuál la caliente porque no hay nada que lo indique (en las llaves del lavabo no sucede eso).||||El servicio a la habitación es correcto, si pides algo a recepción pueden alcanzártelo dependiendo de la disponibilidad: a menudo hemos pedido cubiertos (porque almuerzo fuera y siempre dejo comida), azúcar, sal y otros.||||La tarifa no incluye desayuno, se puede pedir un abundante desayuno que oscila entre 16 y 20 soles o pedir un sándwich y una infusión que por cierto son bastante caros; todo ello con servicio a la habitación.||||En recepción, la atención es más cordial con las señoritas de los turnos mañana y madrugada que con el joven de las tardes.||||Cada piso tiene su propia red Wi-Fi y la clave es la misma en todas, te la dan en la carta de precios que dejan en habitación. Ojo que la señal en las habitaciones con vista a la calle (terminadas en 1 o 2) es pésima, si necesitan imperiosamente el Wi-Fi pidan una habitación más adentro, de preferencia que termine en 4 o 5, la señal ahí es tan fuerte y potente como la de casa y totalmente gratis.||||En cuanto al descanso, se duerme tranquilo y para el frío de Lima proveen frazadas de alpaca bastante gruesas que abrigan muy bien, a falta de calefacción (que podría encarecer el precio).||||Precio: el más barato para un hotel de su categoría en el centro de Miraflores, no encontrarán más barato cerca de allí. Para ser un hotel bastante básico, la relación calidad-precio es excelente.||||Ubicación: como dije antes, tienes de todo a un paso. Ojo que los taxis podrían perderse pues está en una calle poco transitada y poco conocida, que en realidad es el "patio trasero" de la Av. Larco (es decir, la calle por donde entran las mercaderías y proveedores de los negocios de la avenida). La zona es MUY segura, puedes pasar hasta de madrugada y nadie te va a robar ni asaltar, aunque el ambiente sea lúgubre...

When I entered my room it was clear that they just swept the floors, but didn't mop them. The room seemed clean other than that. The hot water took so long to turn on that I actually thought it didn't work and got in the shower while it was cold. The fan in the room didn't work and there are no other climate controls.||||More important factors: I have stayed with this hotel twice in the last two years. It has been extremely loud in two completely different parts of the hotel. Also, don't expect to sleep past 6am. There is always construction going on that feels like and sounds like it is in your room. In the middle of the night expect to hear people outside your hotel and a lot of hookers coming in for sex. Their customer service is not very good. I had my friend call from the lobby and they wouldn't let him up...period. I had to go down to greet him and then we headed out. No problems for others with hookers, but God forbid a gringo stops bye.||||The Pro's: The hotel is close to the water, some good restaurants, and the market. It also is quite cheap.||||I would go elsewhere, but you aren't going to be devastated with the problems...
