It is not worth! Of course you can sleep there, it is quiet enough and clean, but four really negative facts lead to stars subtractions:
Temporarily: There is frequently no hot water available. During our (Me and my Girlfriend) two nights stay, we had three times this issue.
The Internet was always out of order after 7 pm and in the morning hours, this issue occured as least 3 times. We know it, because we have talked about this issue with another guest. The Internet connection was only available middays and afternoons.
The Hostel calculates the prizes in Dollar so far as good, but we paid in Soles and the staff did apply a faulty exchange rate! I would have expected that Hostels use the official exchange rate. We are in Peru and the official currency is Soles, so actually they need a fixed Soles Price. If a Hostel connects there prices to USD, they should always use the correct exchange rates as you normally do in Peru! Additionally the Hostel prepared an invoice with a faulty amount.
Breakfast: Only rolls, croissants, crackers with butter and marmelade to eat! They offer tea, coffee and a super sweet nectar drink! Maybe the breakfast is comparable with a worse American continantal...
Read moreI used booking.com to get a cheap private room here which I was really excited about. However, upon arriving, they would not let me use my credit card to pay the balance of what I owed although outside the building there is a sign that says they accept Visa. I had to go find an ATM, pay the fee, and then pay with cash. I then was taken to a room with three other people because "they don't offer private rooms", and I wasn't refunded any money. I was not impressed with the customer service or cleanliness here, and I also felt like not much effort was made to correct problems that arose.||||The front desk worker also did not speak English which was very unusual for this touristy area.||||People were very loud in the common area, singing and playing music loudly until late at night. This is not a place to go for rest or relaxation.||||An advantage of this hostel is that it is cheap and about as close as you can get to the Machu Picchu bus station and trail head. If you want to not spend money and you're not looking for comfort or super picky about cleanliness or customer service, this is a good...
Read moreThe preface: When I write reviews it's more so I remember things if I were to come back then for other people. Also definitely not in the most optimistic mindset when writing due to the fact that everything about Machu Picchu has been unplanned. So my friend and I were wandering around last night trying to find a place to stay. I am hot, sticky (humid) and tired. The good: A bed is 35 SOL (about $9.50 USD at time of writing) a night. Close to the train station (located on the tracks). The bad: WiFi is broken, My bed feels tilted so one side is higher than the other. Passing trains rumble room and might wake you up. The indifferent: Near the train station. Easy to get to when getting off the train but not the best when trying to get to other things in town. Summary: Normally I'm a hostel kind of guy but for some reason I feel like if I were to come back I would recommend to my future self spending a bit more money and staying somewhere nicer....
