More than a hotel… In Machu Picchu, you can’t go wrong with the location of the hotel unless it is noisy, so let me tell you why I am amazed to stay in this place:

  1. People: What you expect is a small chit chat, maybe a few sentences in general but in this place, nooo. You can talk about your life, abstract things, well pretty much everything. And conversations are too entertaining, sometimes you’ll find yourself thinking: Do I really want to go out when I have a conversation like this? And there is more: I have been hospitalized due to having an inflection (not related to hotel) and receptionist waited me in front of my clinic bed until he was sure that I was alright. Yeah, what? Who does that really? And not only that, he walked with me to the restaurant he suggests (awesome restaurant speaking of that), helped me to stay positive when I feel down, climbed 5 floors because my tour guide was waiting for me downstairs… I have been blessed to see 21 counties, 70+ cities around the world but this was beyond my imagination. Absolutely astonishing experience. Particularly Carlos, you are amazing man!
  2. Architecture: Very interesting one, where I found myself looking at the hallway many times. Generally speaking, I find hotels boring because they feel like you just get into a small box to sleep. This one is very interesting, I would pay just to see the style
  3. Competitively better: I have also asked about the other hotels and honestly, none of them are close to this hotel in terms of comfort or personnel. How do I know? I am not the first guy who went to the Machu Picchu in our friend group :). Do I need to say more? Don’t waste your time and book the...

Dirty, damp, smell of humidity from the reception and into the room. |We payed for a room with a mountain view, we got a view to the corridor.|Our room was on the 5th floor, the elevator wasn’t working and the staff person who showed us to the room didn’t even offer help carrying the bags.|No screens on windows. Bathroom window would not close, and was fully open when we came in, which made the room even more humid (it has been raining) and filled with mosquitoes.|There were human hairs on the cloth on the nightstand. |The shower wasn’t properly cleaned and there was even floss on the floor from some previous guest.|And I haven’t even mentioned the worst part. When you take a shower, water seeps from under the tiles into the external bathroom flooding it. The shower hasn’t been properly sealed.|Finally, internal acoustics ensure echo is magnified. Throughout the night you hear guests coming back in and doors being slammed.||There are places in the hotel that seem to have a nice views. Breakfast is pretty good. Coffee was up to my standards. And the lady serving breakfast is very attentive.||Owner makes some very...

Noisy, with manipulative management.

Upon checking in, we asked for a quiet room. We both have anxiery, express d as such, and said that if it was going to be noisy we would just leave. The staff was accommodating, moving us away from the noisy children. On our room, the lights malfunctioned, coming on in the middle of the night. The phone also rang, waking us up until we unplugged it. The cleaning staff is noisy as hell. At around 8, construction crews began banging hammers in the area above us, causing noise and plaster to fall from the ceiling. I contacted management, who agreed to refund both of our rooms. This was an acceptable solution in the moment. When I reached the front desk, the staff member, who witnessed this agreement, informed me that the manager has changed her mind and would only refund one room. This is unacceptable behavior.

There are much better hotels in much better locations for people desiring quiet.

This hotel is beautiful, with nice rooms and a good coffee in the morning. The beds were comfortable and the water is hot.

Hotel reduced to 1 from 4 stars for lack...

We were not in Aguas Calientes for long and we wished we could have spent more time at Gringo Bill's. Everyone was so kind and helpful!!! They let us check in late, as we did not get off our train until about 9 pm. The person checking us in also gave us a great dinner recommendation. The common areas of the hotel were absolutely beautiful! It was peaceful and lush with many gorgeous plants. Breakfast was fantastic with lots of fruit, bread, and eggs cooked to order. The dining area was very cozy and comfortable. The hotel is tucked away in a corner and you can get there via two alleyways off of the main square. Google maps did not seem to have the location right. The water pressure and hot water were excellent. After traveling for almost 30 hours, the shower was heavenly. The bed was very comfortable and firm and there were a few different pillow options to choose from on our bed. As someone who likes supportive pillows, this was great. Our room also had a very cool mural. I would definitely recommend this place and stay here again!

This is more like 3,5 star review still I don't like to give negative rating . I try to focus on the positive qualities of the places that I visit , however, my attempt is to not fall a victim to my personal bias. Hence, I have to take responsibility and let you know there are things here that are not of my liking . My rooms bathroom ceiling revealed some traces of mold . There was smell. Possibly they try to cover it with some air freshener which made it worse . Still staff was pleasant and changed the room. We were here only for a night , so no big deal . Other than this ok breakfast , good location just behind the main square .

Great hotel. So cool on the inside. Many buildings combined into a set of rooms. They installed a brand new water heater the day we were there. Cold water only before, now hot water! Only problem was on our floor (third) the water pressure was absolutely abysmal. Luckily the warmth helped compensate. Good little area with games to wait for the train, and delicious free breakfast. Very laid back and enjoyable place.
