Stayed here for 2 nights with a G Adventures tour. I read some more positive reviews of this place. Maybe I was just unlucky?||||This is a dark and dingey horror story of a hotel and quite frankly one of the filthiest places I have ever stayed in. I had 3 rooms since the first had not been cleaned, the second reeked of sewerage (admitted by the staff) before being moved to a third. The mould in the bathroom was so thick that 2 inches of it came off in my hand when I touched the shower head. Blankets and covers stank and made my skin crawl. The smell of raw sewerage coming in from the wimdow vent added to the nightmarish atmosphere. This place truly made Bates Motel seem like the Hilton. Breakfast was stale bread and a jug of cold coffee sludge. The staff were kind enough but clearly have no idea about how to maintain very basic standards. In fact I stayed in mud huts in Bolivia that were cleaner than this place. ||||Try to avoid if you can. If I had been able to pay nothing and leave I would have. I have complained to G Adventures since this hotel was not the one that they have always used. Please do the same if you have a...
Read moreThis is my second time at this hotel. My colleague booked it both times and I would look for something else. My big complaint was the lack of hot (or even warm) water. When I gently complained, they look at me like I was crazy. Not even an I'm sorry. Other than that, some soap would be nice. But Peruvian hotels in the rural areas usually don't do this anyway. But for 130 Soles a night, I'd expect more. Breakfast was good and plentiful and the hotel is in a reasonably good part of town. Unfortunately, there was construction outside until 21:00. And it started again at 7:00. Noisy street but it is Puno. Just make sure they...
Read moreWe arrived at hotel italia after an 8 hour bus ride from Cusco to find a room that smelled like fresh paint. There was no heating in the bedroom and given that the temperature is often sub zero in Puno you would think the hotel had better heaters than the tiny table top one they provided when we asked. The bathroom was grubby - the sink was cracked, the shower had bugs in it and the shower head was missing. Breakfast in the morning was equally terrible - there was very little food left (at 7.30am), the coffee was cold and there were no cups to be found.||I would seriously avoid staying at this hotel again, overall...
