Albeit a negative review, I will start off by saying that the staff were always accomodating so nothing to fault with them, only the quality of the physical hostel.||We arrived, my husband and I and my parents, in puno about midday and our rooms were ready as the hostel wasn't full up. We had just got off a night bus so a shower and lay down was in order. The shower in our first room was hot but with very average pressure. ||We all had a few headaches from the altitude so they made us some hot water for tea which was really nice. You can also book tours through them for a reasonable price.||The trouble came in the night when I woke up at 2am with such a sore back from the mattress that I couldn't sleep. The double bed was so old that you would sink into it, which was made worse by having two bodies in it. I ended up sleeping on the concrete floor with a few blankets which was uncomfortable and cold but less so than the bed.||In the morning we told the staff how bad a night it was and asked to change rooms, they were super accomodating but didn't have another double room so we got a twin room across the hall. That night I tried to have a shower but it took more than 10 mins for the hot water to come through and when it did it was just a dribble. They don't provide toiletries in the bathroom which was an issue for us as we ran out of soap the day we arrived so had to find some so we could wash our hands.||The second night was even worse, waking up at midnight with searing back pain because of the mattress and barely slept at all that night.||The breakfast was very basic but got you through the morning.||All in all I wouldn't recommend staying here or potentially anywhere in puno with the word hostel in it as last time we had a similar problem with another accomodation. Puno lacks good accomodation at moderate prices so I would recommend paying more here and saving on other accomodation in other cities in peru where you can get a good quality place for a reasonable price.||Staff here...
Read moreWe arrived into Puno late and our taxi driver took us here. The owners are so lovely. They welcomed us in and we got settled very quickly. The hostel is cold but our beds were very warm, most hostels we have been in don't have heating anyway they just have heaps of blankets. We had no Sols on arrival so they helped to change USD and advised on local eating places. Our room was $19NZD each, a little on the steep side but hey we were well looked after. We had no idea we were so close to the main centre, it was perfect. The shower was hot and the rooms were typical hostel rooms, it was fine and we ended up staying 3 days. Breakfast was the standard Bread, cheese and jam with freshly squeezed pineapple juice. The owners can't speak English but they did their best to understand us and again the translator app comes in handy. Lovely couple......
Read moreThis was the second place we stayed in Puno as we did not enjoyed the previous stay. Henry was a wonderful host and offered us a number of tours to visit the most popular sites. We arrived early in the morning, so we expected not to have our bedroom ready. However, he offered us a four bed private room instead, which was available at the moment. Breakfast is included and is quite basic, but enough to keep you from starving through the morning. ||However, the rooms were a bit chilly and the water pressure was low, you couldn't actually feel the hot water when showering. Also, there were traces of hair from previous guests clogged in the shower drain. The wifi didn't work all that well either. ||Overall, it was a great stay and the staff...
