Hospedaje Balcón Cusqueño — Hotel in Wanchaq

The first night I had problems sleeping as the room that was given to me was next to the main roundabout and bus stop. It was extremely noisy throughout the entire night and day. So I asked to change room and from then onwards I started getting cold treatment for the male owner. He was not as friendly as he can be and in fact everything that I queried about, he seems very defensive. The breakfast was very poor just a bread, very poor quality margerine (not butter) and cordeal orange (not fresh juice). I kindly asked if there was any fruits served for breakfast and was rudely replied by the male reception that this was a continental breakfast and that I shouldnt expect anything else. From that incident onwards, the owner and his wife started giving me the cold treatment. They can be absolutely friendly with other guests but extremely rude to me just because I had few queries. We stayed a week here and for the price was well worth it. The owners were friendly and the rooms spacious especially for the price you pay. Good location to the main square and old town. Breakfast is standard for this budget type of accommodation, you get juice, coffee, jam and bread. One major down side to our stay was our room overlooking the road. The noise is constant from early morning till late at night with constant traffic, horns, buses, dogs, car alarms etc. As someone who is a good sleeper I struggled all week. The family that lived in and owned this hostel were great! They were always nice and gave us anything we needed. Long story short- the taxi didn't drop us off back at the hostel on our way back from Machu Picchu and we were unsure where to go to get to the hostel. When we finally made it to the hostel, we told the owners because they had set up the Machu Picchu trip for us.. They paid for our taxi to the airport. Very friendly people.
