I was lucky enough to go on two adventures with Daniel. The first ride took us just outside of Cusco, near the Sacsayhuaman area. We ascended through breathtaking mountain terrain, often riding along ancient animal trails and raw wilderness. It was the perfect warm-up for what would become the most unforgettable ride of my life.

Two weeks later, Daniel and his skilled driver, Francisco, picked me up for a 60 km ride through Ausangate, the 7 Lagunas, and Rainbow Mountain. Let me be clear: this ride is not for beginners—it’s for seasoned riders only. With 25 years of mountain biking experience under my belt, even I found this to be one of the most challenging and rewarding rides I’ve ever done.

We climbed some of the most intense ascents I’ve ever encountered, all with the jaw-dropping backdrop of the Andes. And just when I thought it couldn’t get better—we arrived at Rainbow Mountain at 4 PM. No tourists. Just us. That moment alone was worth it all.

The final descent? Unreal. It felt like a natural trail park designed by the Earth itself—complete with natural jumps, rollercoaster-like drops, and pure joy flowing through every turn. I couldn’t stop smiling.

We recently had the pleasure of taking a mountain bike tour with Búho Tours in Cusco, and it was an unforgettable experience! From start to finish, everything was seamless, and the adventure exceeded all expectations. We rode through the breathtaking landscapes of the Cusco province, from majestic mountains to lush jungle paths and beautiful waterfalls. The scenery alone is enough to leave you in awe, but the warm nature and kindness of the Peruvian people made the trip even more special.

Our guide, Daniel, was outstanding. Not only is he an incredibly skilled bike rider, but he is also one of the nicest and most accommodating people you’ll meet. He ensured that everyone in our group felt comfortable and safe throughout the tour. The electric bikes made the challenging terrain accessible to all of us, allowing us to enjoy the adventure without being exhausted.

What added to the sense of security was the constant support of a van that followed us throughout the journey. Vladimir, our driver, was calm and skillful, always close by to lend a hand or provide transportation when needed. His steady driving made us feel safe as we explored remote areas.

One of the highlights of the day was the picnic prepared by Paulino, who cooked up a delicious meal for us. It was the perfect way to recharge, surrounded by nature.

My girlfriend and I brought our enduro bikes over from the united states to ride some of the legendary trails in the sacred valley of Peru! We are both very experienced downhill riders from lake tahoe and the trails we rode in the sacred valley exceeded our expectations. The views are amazing but you hardly notice because the single track is incredible. We contacted Buho the night before we wanted to ride not expecting them to respond and they responded within minutes and told us they can pick us up at 7am the following morning! We rode 3 trails in 1 day, named chinchero, Lamay, and lares. Our guides Daniel and Alex along with their driver Marco picked us up directly from our air bnb. We were staying In Urubamba and they drove from Cusco to pick us up with no hesitation. We have done a few mountain bike tours around bolivia and peru and while all guides are friendly Alex, Daniel, and Marko seemed more like friends than tour guides. They were incredibly kind and helpful even with our terrible Spanish language barrier. Alex was one of the best riders I have ever been guided by. I really enjoy to go fast and Alex was always matching my speed perfectly. In between rides we stopped for a delicious local lunch and at the end of the day finished off with locally made strawberry chicha!
