First thing you do: Take photos of possible damages in the room (toilet seat, sheets, etc…) right after checking in, otherwise you might be charged when checking out!
Saleh has a great price tag for quite spacious rooms. Although we were downgraded from a king room with balcony to a queen room without balcony we decided to extend for a couple of nights. They are very picky with fast payment but often lack of change ;-) They have a free water dispenser next to the reception. Saleh is located a 15 mins walk from “sin-street” with the weirdest characters sitting around doing lookie lookie. There are a few convenience stores 1-2 mins walk away. Hi-Mart is friendly and open 24hrs. If you crave for delicious, cheap, non fried food head 650m to “Patches” Thai Restaurant or to the more expensive Altrove Pizzeria 300m away.
The hotel itself is ok. Employees are mainly friendly - especially the cleaning staff and some of the receptionists. They always smiled and were helpful and attentive. They sell sodas and beer at the reception. Note that you will be charged for paper cups, extra towels, stains on the sheets, etc. Primarily locals stay here and during our time it was relatively quiet. Except of Saturday, when a live band plays next door until 03:00 a.m. Poolside rooms might be more quiet.
The rooms are more or less clean (and old). Windows have mosquito nets but can’t really be opened. As usual a lack of hooks on the walls. The interiors are from the 80ies but have been repainted in white to make the rooms brighter. A big minus is the iron smell of the water which most likely comes from the metallic tanks. Sometimes we had no water pressure or water at all. Or it was rusty. The wifi is NOT high speed and works best between 01:00 and 06:00 a.m. (Reception area works better - youtube for the ladies behind the counter ;-) )There is a little outdoor kitchen (plates, cutlery, glasses) in which you can prepare some fruits / smoke your ciggies. The pool is more symbolic but is still used by kids and some locals if it gets too hot. Due to its bleak yellowish color I wouldn’t even put my small toe in it. Saleh has great potential if you would replace sinks, toilet seats, shower heads, etc… but then the rate would go up.
In general the stay was nice and we would return. But expect as much as you pay. We have had much worse rooms for a...

Read moreI stay in alot of cheap hotels and this one was the cheapest in the area so thought would try 1 night.
I can live in pretty rough in general it doesn't bother me but this hotel was too much for me and didn't stay longer. My photos don't actually make it seem as dank as it felt.
It is really old and dim lights in room. Lots of stuff was broken in my room, The taps in bathroom, some lights didn't work, the toilet didn't flush just a bucket that fills up from dripping shower. The water had a funny smell to it when showering also the shower head sprayed water everywhere. Safe was broken. The pool was in pretty bad shape wasn't game enough to swim in it
The walls are so thin you can hear people watching videos on there phones clearly as you walk the halways.
It seems to be a comon theme in Philippines of roaches there was a few in bathroom
Aircon cooled room but was real old and made lots of weird noises randomly
One thing on the positive side was was the best blanket I have encountered in the 10 or so different hotels stayed at in Philippines so far.
The staff encounters were all very positive also
Also there check out time is 11am not 12 like normal which...
