I'm not sure why so many people like this hotel with the exception of the great location, 24 hour restaurant, and the pool area. For me this place was pretty much a let down, especially when it comes to quality. First, the whole feel of this hotel is just dated...the front desk/lobby area, the upstairs decor, and most importantly, the actual room. Worth mentioning, I stayed on the first (seemingly older) half of the hotel, and so I do not know the condition of the other side. One of the most annoying things about this place is the wifi. I understand we're not in a 1st world country and shouldn't expect blazing fast speeds, but the wifi reminds me of dialup speeds...when it worked, which was about half the time. And the quality of the wifi was consistently bad everywhere. I even turned off my phone's wifi so I can use (and pay for) 3G instead. Other small annoyances include a weak A/C unit in my room, old/dirty shower head that sprays (Hot :D) water in multiple directions, and the lack of elevator in the first half of the hotel-walking up and down 3 flights of spiraling stairs with an ankle injury on my first night was not fun. Overall, I like the location, but would probably research a different hotel the next time I'm in the area. I would assume the price for most people would be right, but I can't justify the price with all the little annoyances and...
Read moreEvery trip i make to Angeles City, I always stay at the Wild Orchid Resort. I have learned through past experiences to make a specific request for the type of room you want, as online reservations do not guarantee the room you get. For this reason i email the reservations section directly to book my stay. I love to stay in the Lagoon rooms as it provides a better experience in my opinion.
Pros - The rooms are larger, have a better balcony, and a bigger bathroom. All around the lagoon rooms are much nicer than the older style. The restaurant/bar is always well staffed by great waitresses and chefs. The food is always excellent. The pools are always clean and nice to be in. Close to main area of interest for many travelers.
Cons - Air conditioner does not cool fast (obviously becuse of the size of the rooom vs the small air conditiner provided). Mine actually had a leak and an issue that maintenance could ot fix. The t.v. is only 32 inches, maybe. For the size and cost of the room it should be at least 42 inches, just my opinion. There is a new outside live band venue behind the wall of the lagoon pool. This made it difficult to enjoy a quiet evening in my room or even on my balacony on the nights that i did stay in.
I recommend the Wild Orchid to anyone that comes to...
Read moreThe bar to the right is ok but the staff will not be friendly to you unless you are an older white man with gray hair. The waitress by the name of Tess has a stone face and her the attitued is cold enough they did not have a reason to turn on the aircon. I only went there on 5/13/18 and 5/14/18 because this place was one of the few to serve alcohol on these election days. This bar has a problem with young people, and by young I am 39 but look 29 and I am a retired war veteran, along with people with too much melanin....they will serve you but it will not be warm or cordial. Expect to be neglected a bit if you do not fit their profile for money......and I'm not a Cheap Charlie at all. I did not know lady drinks applied to a hotel bar also, when Fields Avenue was 300 meters away....Tess even looked over me and asked another customer if he was ok, which is ok, but I thought all money spends the same....the atmosphere here stinks because you are not welcomed warmly. It gets worse....if you do not fit the profile, ice has to be given to you like...
