Starting by the positive:|-Room is very large.|-Seems clean and higienic.|-It was our honeymoon and they acknowledged it with some decoration in the room prior to check-in.|- Pool is quite large with the deepest end being 7feet.||Negative regarding the product:|-View of the room was facing a slum. Lots of garbage in a corner, and the locals would engage in conversation if I would walk into the balcony to try and sell me private tours.|-Product needs investment, the room curtains were ripped, the cushions in the pool are very dirty and worn off. TV is basic, no smart TV, no HDMI cable, no Netflix, no fire stick. As it gets dark around 7pm, it would be good to have something to watch at night.|-Breakfast is just sad. I've stayed 3 weeks in the Philippines, I've come last year another 3 weeks, my spouse and therefore great part of my family is Filipino, so I'm used to the local food. Here I had the most disappointing breakfasts. Last 2 mornings I just had eggs and bread. On last day even my spouse mention to be the worse beef tapas she ever had. |1 - there's only one choice of juice. Orange. In a country where watermelon, Mangos, pineapple and coconuts are in abundance, it doesn't quite make sense that the choice is orange and just orange. Even Calamansi juice would have been a better option.|2- the soup option doesn't make sense for breakfast. Sopas, Arroz Caldo, Congee would make sense, but potato soup and pumpkin soup??|3- Breakfast seems to be better if you go before 8am as it is when most guests have it. If you go after you get leftovers, some dishes already finished.|-Last but not least. For a tourism business located in a remote island they should have more sustainability concerns, didn't saw any initiatives around the hotel.||Negative regarding service:|Is just sad overall, the majority of the staff lacks passion or training for hospitality. Examples:|- Stayed 4 nights, every single morning the same breakfast staff would ask me my room number. Not once they agnowledge my name.|-Same with reception, not once did they agnowledge mine or my spouse name.|-If you go before 8am they seem to be fully staffed, after 8:30 if you need something you will struggle to find a waiter, as there's usually only one.|- There's a lot of staff using their own clothes and no name badge, is confusing when you need something to know who should you ask.|- Most times receptionists are on their phones not caring to look up and say hi or bye when you pass by.|-The culmination of poor service was on my last full day in Coron. As it was already 2 weeks since we were in Palawan, we were looking for some non sea related activities, and we booked a AvT with waterfalls and eco Park tour with the hotel reception. It seems that they only have one receptionist at a time so whenever she went for break a gentleman with no uniform or name tag was covering her dinner. We booked with that person, who confirmed everything was done. One hour later probably when the receptionist returned from her break we got a call in our room asking what your we wanted to do, weird but ok. We gave the same information and she confirmed us we would be picked up at 9am. Next day by 9:10 no one had called us, so we went down to the lobby, the receptionist as usual was engaged in her phone giggling. I apologized for interrupting her, told her we were waiting for our 9am pick up and she asked me my room number and told me she would call us when the pick up arrived. But we didn't had anything to do, so we just waited there in the lobby whilst she went back to her private matters on her phone. By 9h30 am I approached her again asking if she could confirm with your operator if everything was ok as it had been a while. At this moment her face went white and she asked me again my room number, then she said, "oh yes, I forgot to tell you, your tour was cancelled". It had been cancelled since the morning, but now it was 9:30, all tours had already departed and we couldn't engage in any activity anymore. No one even approached me after this to apologized for the inconvenience. ||Overall I would recommend you to book The Funny Lion or Marina del Sol Resort, is places we visited and had much better service for...
Read moreI don't often give five-stars, but these guys earned it. Positives: In town proper - walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and bars. Tricycle rides are cheap for those who don't like to walk. Front desk can get you whatever transportation you need. Almost no bugs, barely a mosquito in sight! Clean! Rooms, hallways, stairs, breezeways, even around the open air pool... Everything was clean. We had a family room, two doubles and a queen (that was all they had after a previous booking fell through, turned out to be a blessing!) Plenty of room, sturdy furnishings, the queen bed was low, but comfy for this picky sleeper. In-room safe, TV in bedroom and family area, coffee maker with basic coffee service, dorm fridge, 4 bottles of water with more every day And bottled water dispenser (hot and cold) just down the hall, huge shower with separate 'comfort room', lots of lighting options all round out the room details. Service was typical for Filipino culture; extremely quick and courteous, very willing to help. Herb and the staff made us feel welcome and at home. Want anything from a bandaid to a tour reservation? Just ask! Seriously, ask the front desk for tour recommendations: We had a simply fantastic 7 stop snorkeling, swimming and sightseeing tour for less than two thirds of a similar package... And ours was private! (And the food! Wow!) Speaking of food, the restaurant was quite a bit above average with a decent variety and very reasonable pricing for the quality. Breakfast was very good, no skimping just because it was included in the room. One minor knock, they did not have to go containers for when we simply could not eat everything. As an aside, the Hawaiian pizza had no Canadian bacon, but rather was thick with cheese, a tasty light sauce, some onions, green peppers and of course fresh pineapple, we loved it. AC: Brrr! Separate large ceiling unit in each of the bedrooms and the living room area. Ceiling fans augmented that if you didn't want the AC. Top notch here. Environs: Simply beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice.
No place is perfect and Corto had some minor dings. Cons: No microwave, lots of ambient noise - from exuberant children (on the bay-side rooms) to the ubiquitous roosters - make the available earplugs a Godsend for this Midwest quiet sleeper; we had some trouble with water temps randomly spiking/dropping - Herb was looking into it and it may have just been our room 304.
Even the issues with the water temperatures could not dampen our opinion of this place, or budge it down from my enthusiastic 5-star rating. We could not possibly see all that Coron has to offer in four days, so it's on our list to return in a few years and we already have our hotel...
Read moreI am staying in Corto del mar now. I checked in yesterday for 4 nights. 11pm now, but terrible situation so i need to write about it to share who will have plan to stay in corto del mar. My room(211)is just next to school playground and can hear students sounds all day. Chicken and doc barking a lot, too. Today 5:30am there was a event(i dont know exactly) but they played musical instruments and i broke my sleep. And till now they are singing with karaoke system. When i came back from tour music was so loud. I thought it will be over soon so i went out for 2 hours and came back but they still singing. Since my room was facing that playground and i can hear clearly their singing. I called to reception to come my room to hear music how loud and change room because i wanted to sleep. But they said just today fully booked so canot change the room.
i was standing for few hour till now and complained to lobby by phone. But desk girl said cannot help. Fully booked. So i asked give ear plug at least. But she said dont have. So she asked me to stand because it is public event. Which means "sorry but just try to endure and sleep by urself." So i went down to the reception and explained that i can hear clearly that singing sound so cannot sleep. Wanted to talk with manager but he or she was not in there. He or she was in his room and talked in phone about sitiation. And desk girl said she will show another room and if i want i can stay in that room. 'What the.....that girl told me tosay fully booked and now say she will show another room.' But that room which is standard(same i booked level room) also i can hear music really well because it was just next to. We dont wanted to move because not so many difference, so i am at the lodbby now where only one place wifi works. Waiting their event finish and fighting with mosquitoes.
I made a record about noise in my room how can i hear that sound their songs
If hotel knew that there is event whole day till night, they should give me another room when i check in.
Manager should come down and try to solve problem instead staying in guest room and talk in phone.
Management is sooo bad terrible. Absolutely they ruin my holiday. I dont know how can i get up at 5am and go to...
