Big Paul Hostel - El Nido — Hotel in El Nido

This is a party hostel, free rum and cokes from 7pm - 11pm for guests of the hostel, which is great. Although it is a party hostel, the bar closes at 11pm when the free drinks end, therefore it becomes very quiet as everyone goes elsewhere to party.

The beds are comfortable and the air conditioning is very good.

Despite this I cannot recommend this hostel. The staff are not so helpful and don’t seem to care when problems arise.

I asked to stay in a female dorm and was told it was a female dorm multiple times, only to wake up and discover 3 men staying in the same room.

The rooms are tiny and look MUCH bigger in the photos online, there is practically no space for luggage in the rooms let alone to get anything out of your bag.

There are no locks on the doors to the bedrooms so anyone can come into your room. As well as this there is no door to the hostel just a gate. We were told the gate shuts at 11:30pm every night - however it stays open all night.

The toilets and showers are not clean. The showers have hardly any space to put items and the shower heads hardly work in all the showers. All the toilets were blocked one morning and it took a long time for this to be fixed, which meant pretty much all of the toilets were unusable for...

Don’t usually leave a review, but felt the need to pre warn others. The hostel is FILTHY! Everything needs a deep clean immediately (showers, toilets, bedrooms). Most days there was sick in the toilets and showers that wasn’t cleaned till the morning. Showers full of cobwebs and hair. There’s a mouldy orange in the corner of a bathroom that outlived us all staying there for 4 nights… I really could go on lol. |The rooms have 0 space for bags, we luckily had a room of 8 with only 7 people, but still had to put almost all bags on a bed. There is basically no Wi-Fi either, with no signal or connection in the rooms at all. |We booked as everywhere else was full, but do yourself a favour and book a nice guesthouse, then join for drinks in the evening. |Handy to have breakfast I guess. |Oh and there’s also a random budgie cage in the middle which takes up loads of social room and wakes you up in...

Shared rooms and private rooms.|Away from the busy and noisy crowd of downtown but close to sunset avenue, which is the 2nd pick up point for tours. Right by the highway, easily accessible. |I was dropped off and picked up by the van to and from the airport right on the property. |The staff are all helpful as much as they can and all kind and polite, including the hosts.|The continental breakfast 🍳 was not sufficient for me but they allow extra orders of eggs and toasts. 👍 24 hr reception, the bar (drinks only) is open til midnight (but guests lounge in the huge reception area till 2 am).
